Hello,

I was hoping for a bit of guidance before a made an unrecovarble mistake. :)

I have a DN PVR. Now this thing has 508 on the back sticker, but jkeys shows it as a 501. Ok no biggie. At least I hope not.

I don't have valid or ex-subbed card of any kind. I do have a ROM102 that I was using in my FTA box once upon a time however. AFAIK this thing has never been subbed and I don't have the original bin from it.

So I am assuming I need to change the box keys and IRD info to match the public numbers. If not, please correct me.

So how do I go about doing this? Do I flash the thing with one of the TSOP's in the bank? How do I pick the right one? Is their another way to change these numbers? Should I back up what I have first? I pulled the two bin files from the main screen of jkeys. Do I need to copy the flash and eprom as well?

I am about to try the R44 method to vid-mod my reciever. Is that the correct way to enable write access?

Now once this has been all done, I am assuming I just write the built in bin file to atmega, wait for the keys to roll, and watch tv.. is that correct?

Let me know what you think.

The 508 will read as a 501 with most versions of jkeys that will recognize that series.

You do not have to go with public numbers if you don't want. You can use the information off of the tsop of the receiver to program the card, but you will have to get familiar with GenDT08_SK. Either way, your going to need to jtag the receiver. Do you have a jtag? Always backup what ever your doing before you over write it.

Skinerd is the local guru and has made a sticky post about what you will need to do in the receiver forums.

You already have a rom card, but they are much riskier to run and much more challenging. Only you can decide which way to go with the card. I'd recomend the USB atmega256 for beginners. While your messing with that you can get the equipment and learn how to do actual rom cards.
