I've been trying to program my atmega 128 this am - worked fine on May 04. Put it in the programmer, hooked to computer and right away Jeepers is "failed to enter program mode" and PAL is "device 0x1eFFFF" not supported. The last file I wrote to the card was PAL.
I've never done any "jumping" of the pins before, so I'm kind of nervous; are there any other options for me ? Or any advice so that I don't mess it up ?
Thanks

OK just tried jumping the points, but didn't work.... same thing, failed to enter.
I must be doing something wrong, I'm trying to follow the instructions in the readme file, but they ar every confusing ... help ?

OK - just got a successful erase, but still can't do anything else with the card without going into "failed to enter program mode" or "device 0x1EFFFF not supported"

hmm dunno Daisy May, sounds like you may have a bad connection? atmega not making contact with pc for some reason
you sure it is hooked up right?
lpt port is correct 0x378?
rebooted computer double checked connections
you could try junior roba

I thought that too, that's usually the case that the programmer doesn't make a good connection with the PC; usually a little wiggle gets it done, but not today. When I run Phoenix without the card in, it says "failed to enter program mode", but shen I run it with the card, it says "device not supported".
I just got two succesful Erase/Flash EEPROM sequences with the tabs jumped as per instructions in the read me of "Atmegas_restored" fro mteh files section. After that, goes right back to "failed to enter" whether I got a jumper on it or not.

it's funny how computers act when left on for days on end. good going maybe this will help someone else.
but funny thing is now you have it working you dont have a working fix to use it on.
