It worked, but don't panic. This is nothing to worry about on your end...at least that was what I was told by a VERY reliable source. Just because you can see the information in the window, doesn't mean anybody else can. The information is not shared with anybody else. It is just a neat little trick to get your computer to post information to you that you already knew.

I have to tell ya that this is scaring a few people away from the site ...
They don't feel safe ....

I know what you mean though ,all the other sites have them too ...
There have been a few complaints from the other guy running it and you know what happens we mili gets to many complaints ! :p

Really though folks , there is nothing to worry about !
Only you will see your address ...

If it is not a good vibe then I suggest you go through a proxy. Anywhere you go on the net your IP address is your passport. If you don't like to see your IP then God forbid don't type at a command prompt ipconfig /all because you will see your IP and if that scares you maybe you should not be present on the internet? What you see is exactly that, a script instructs your computer to display your own IP address. It does not post it on the forums.

I have no intention of using this signature even one more time in these forums. This is just a situation where I saw it the first time, had a small panic attack, and decided I needed to become familiar with what this code is doing rather than fear it. It really is no big deal at all, but it sure seems like it is at first. I did not intend to scare anyone or make a point of any kind. It was just the last step in me figuring out what is going on with this signature code. This code does not do anything other than post your information to yourself. No one else ever has access to the information displayed. I sincerely hope I did not scare anyone away. That was not my intention at all. If I did, I apologize to mili and anyone else I may have given a little scare to. At least now we all know what it is and how to deal with it. It is a nifty little trick, but it is not representing a security breach of any kind. Again, I apologize if this scared anyone away. That was not my intention at all. (That's why I originally posted it in the totally off topic forums. But I suppose all the controversy warrants the move to this section)

Good advice, but have one question. do any of these anonomizers "NOT" slow down your computer to a crawl? I am willing to buy one if it did not make my DSL a DFS. DFS=damn f@ckin slow.

Seeing that danasoft thing 2 weeks ago did freak me out a while ago and got me running around like chicken little. But it did make me more aware.

Good Job JT, Now you see what I was talking about.. It's not information that goes any place but your screen, like a Mirror of your information. Kinda Kewl in a way. Since the information isn't sent anywhere, I don't see the harm in using it, it's a way of keeping a reminder in front of you. Always check to amke sure you are safe, and then check again. New Things are always being developed, so you have to read, read, and read somemore just to keep up with changes in technology.
