If someone were to have an expansion card to add a couple extra DB9 com ports, and those ports were com5 and com6, could Cemu be set up to run off of these ports? I haven't even tried yet, and it's easy enough to change the port # in the .ini, but the software appears to be set up to only entertain up to com port #4.

If anything other than designating the com port # in the .ini is necessary, please post what else would need to be done, if it can be done. Thanks.

not 100% sure about cemu, as I think it depends on which version...I believe some can go higher on ports than others, but let someone who knows wtf they are doing answer that . If you cant go that high on the ports with cemu, try renaming them in your device mgr...that once worked for a setup I did for someone else.

I remember reading something to the effect that when compiled for dos its limited at com4 due to the dos limitation but if compiled for windows or linux it can go past com 4.

Not sure what you would use for a Linux/Windows compile since ddjp or whatever its called is a dos app.

All ports up to port 4 are already used on this system. Runs st19 no sweat, but wanted to be able to switch between the two depending on what's up at the time. Wanting to run in windows environment, even for cemu. Wanting to run cemu v1.3.4x. One instance of Bev on com5 and one instance of charlie on com6.....if it can be done. I've also read there are limitations with cemu on this level. I'm asking if anyone knows how to make it fly anyway.

Problem solved. There was a vitual port pair of port 2 and 4 running on this machine. Port 1 still open for aux card when needed or other uses like ISO etc. Deleted virtual pair 2/4, created a new one of port 5 & 6, relabled real ports (expansion card) 5&6 to 2&4, changed all .bat and .ini accordingly, and problem solved. Now can switch between cemu and st19 with or without aux without unplugging anything.

Still, if there is a way to run cemu on ports above 4, I'd sure like to know how.

You can compile cemu with MinGW to get a Win32 app that should use com ports above 4.

Here is a MinGW Installer for Cemu (http://www.mediafire.com/?azyolssdzcu).
It's very easy to use. Like the DJGPP Installer (http://www.mediafire.com/?fmzudt040xi).

Thanks Angus. I compile with MinGW as it is. So in theory, I could have just relabeled the ports in the cemu .ini's, and that's all it would have taken? It's good I went back and redid it like this anyway. It makes more sense to have the physical com ports in numerical order.

for dos ports above 4 you will need to install a driver, something like this one: h**p://www.pccompci.com/dos-4c.html maybe you can find better than this, I haven't used such things since long time ago.
