I am using a pcmcia serial card and a laptop running st19 in windows. Was working great for a few days but my power supply on the notebook went bad so I ordered another one. I hooked it up and now st19 is only working sometimes. It takes me a few tries of opening st19 and pluging the receiver in to get st19 to scroll. When I finally get it to working, after a half hour or so I get the Card not inserted correctly message and st19 stops scrolling and displays "reset" followed by code. I tried another laptop I have and it works fine, I also have a pc and run st19 off a DOS bootdisk and works fine. Is there a setting that needs to be changed on this laptop?

try reinstalling pcmcia card into another slot or try another pcmcia card altogether if u have another one .. those cards can go bad very easy since they run 24-7 .. maybe try that card in your working laptop and see what happens.
will the emu board your using work with other pc's also?

Its not the card, it works fine in another laptop. Yes the emu works on other pcs. Also I noticed that with the working laptop, st19 scrolls very fast and and in the none working laptop, it scrolls very slow.

I correct myself, I think the pcmcia card is bad. I let it run for a while using the my other laptop and it does the same thing. I wonder if I ran it in DOS if it would make a difference? I can't test it because the floppy drive is not working but I could buy in external one.

good luck getting the card to work in dos. lots of people have tried and lots have failed. the problem is finding a dos driver.
