For some time now fta iks has been hyped as the only future for stable testing. The fta nfusion ads state that it is the only device that never goes down.
Problems have now surfaced in nfusion land. iks has been down for over one week. Various explanations such as "server maintainance" and "switching to an updated system called SUNS"(security upgrade network system.)
Meawhile rumours abound . One is that interpol hit the iks servers in Korea. Interesting that at the same time all the iks systems in the middle east known there as LINK are also down.
Interesting devepments in the fta world.

ya any number of things could have happened....one of the dudes that looks after the nfusion IKS server (i don't care what they call it now) has posted that a) the outage was not planned b) the server is being moved c) recovering from whatever took the server out is taking longer than first thought............other than that it's basically ''standby download''......luckily for some, dn is still working on that stb standalone.......for now.......

LOL...the unbreakable IKS nFusion..... just another example of fancy gizmos in this hobby... they all look great and do fancy things... until they need updates.

Support is the only true test of what will still be going 6 months, or even a year down the road.

As far as I see, the Atmega128 is the greatest gizmo ever created for our hobby. Almost ten years after it was introduced and it's still going, without modification.

"iks has been down for over one week" Bullshit!....never happened. I have one...as well as everything else going in the last 25 years. It was never down for more than 2 days.

Nfusion is cheap and easy....the big problem with it is it is so easy that it attracts every lazy or stupid SOB that thinks that it is thier right to have free tv for life. I have one....I'm not stupid, but I'm really lazy and if it works better than most shit...and it does...how can I knock it?

Well it's been down over a week this time with no word from the developers beyond we'll have a bin by the end of the week, and that was more than a week ago.

The track record for this box has significantly deteriorated the past few months.

As a real student of history I can safely say it doesn't look good. For now my nfusions are in the door-stop bin with the cool sats [and others] and I've got my backups running.

Just take a look at all the other devices/boxes and how at EOL the support got real spotty then just faded out. I have boxes full of such things and a good collection of door-stops as well. Unfortunately history does tend to repeat itself far too often in this hobby.

ya for some reason some sre having issues and some are not.....i'm one of the fortunate ones that hasn't had any significant down time other than the 10 days the entire server was down about a month ago........having been a coolsat faithful, i can say that nf's support has been ok in my books.......downgraded from superb, but ok nonetheless....we'll see what happens in a month or so when bev flips the switch......all we can do is be optimistic eh?

If, in fact, yours has been down for over a week? You, sir, are doing somthing wrong. Have you read the threads on Nfusion? It is a simple fix...It takes about 5 seconds. I won't tell you what it is because you should really read before you bash. I rest on my previous post when I said that Nfusion people are lazy SOBs. I just didn't realize how lazy they really were. BTW, MY Nfusion has had about 5 minutes of downtime in the laST TWO WEEKS...... READ!

the ip/static fix is not working for everyone....it's the wierdest thing....as i said, some went down, some didn't and then some were able to recover with the fix you speak of and some couldn't......there apparently is a new bin on the way to deal with the issue ......cheers

here is a c/p regarding the fix

I've been fooling around all night with this thing to see what I can come up with... Some sort of explanation as to why this is happening.

Through my tests, DHCP is unreliable at this point. At least with my WRT54G router that is flashed with DD-WRT. It will work have the time, and not others.

My only guess is that the nFusion somehow lost its ability to handshake. When IKS went down for those few times, the nFusion may have been looking for a new IP address reassigned by the router to correct the issue. When the router says "Hey, you already got one, I'm not giving you another", the nFusion tells the router to go screw itself and stops working. In essence, alienating itself from the router.

Make sense so far? Clear as mud right?

Well enter static... You are telling the router through the nFusion, this is what my IP is, and I cannot change it. The router seems ok with this, so long as it plays nice.

Ok enough with the stories. LOL.

Through my tests, STATIC is working well for now, and will continue to have your nFusion functioning properly, so long as you don't reboot your router.

If you do reboot your router, the nFusion says its that IP, but the router says screw you. Increasing the last digit on your IP address by 1 will correct the problem until the next time your router reboots itself, or through user intervention.

-----

In order for static to work properly without any conflicts, ensure you are assigning an IP that is outside your DHCP client range.

For instance, if you tell your router you will allow 50 DHCP clients, and your first client will be 192.168.1.100, then its safe to say your last client will be 192.168.1.149.

When assigning a static IP to your nFusion, do not assign it an IP within this range. You may run in to conflicts if the router is not smart enough to jump over IP's already in use. It may try and assign the one you did to another device causing freezing and the like to your wonderbox.

So in the scenario above, the best IP to use is 192.168.1.150 or higher. That way you won't have any conflicts with any other DHCP devices.

Getting clearer now?

I'm not sure what caused this problem, but nFusion refuses to handshake anymore. Not a big deal when you are running a router with all its Range, but strange nonetheless.

Remember, once you assign an IP Address, and the nFusion works, DON'T reboot your router. Doing so may cause your router to flip the nFusion the bird.

in case anyone actually reads this thread.....as things stand now nf has released a new bin (must load at some point) that has adressed the issues some were having.....cheers
