Hello,
I am working on my first vid mod ever and have a 510. I removed the R44 and have been following instructions. However, is vid modding a one time thing?
I am trying to make a permanent jtag so I do not have to open up the ird (RJ45 for jtag and put a switch for the jumper, etc.)
1. Want to know if the vid mod setup needs to be permanent as well or is it a one time thing?
2. If one time, should the R44 be put back? (I have saved the resistor in case it needs to be put back)
Appreciate a quick reply.
Thanks.

You need to turn on the vid mod every time that you erase and/or write to the U7 TSOP.

Just jumper the two points with a wire. The R44 resistor is a zero ohm resistor. Therefore, any wire will work.

Hey Lizard....
Thanks for the reply.
If I make the vid mod (kinda permanent) with a switch, then I do not need to put a wire on the R44. The SPDT switch will take care of it. Right?
(OJ1 jumper always on when flashing)
The R44 vid mod is a SPDT switch. Wire from pad closest to U6 on one end of switch. (say 1)
Wire close to U7 in middle of switch. (say 2)
12V wire to the other end of switch. (say 3)
So... when switch towards 1 and 2, which means Vid Mod off. I am thinking this is position it should be when receiver is running. Will this do the same thing as jumping the 2 pads of R44?
To run IRD, remove jumper from OJ1.
Do I understand this correctly?
Also, the ROM102 is at REV 10B and is stream locked.
I do not have an unlocker/glitcher :( I will save off the original TSOP and EEPROM so whenever I can get the ROM102 unlocked, maybe I can still use it in my IRD 'as is' kinda.

Yes you can leave the switch in place.
Yes you can still use the Rom102 "maybe I can still use it in my IRD 'as is' kinda"
But that would be like, I have my gun but no shells for it, I can still go bear hunting "as is" kinda. LOL
