Right now I'm using a 301.10 ird. It has an internal max/mel 2 chip. the pc is a floppy drive only. I've only used it to run cemu on a dos floppy disk. It's been working fine until last week.
The question is should I switch and to what? What is the easiest and best method at the moment?. I have 2 old pc's that I can use. 233 Mhz and a 433 Mhz.
thanks

you ARE using the best and cheapest system, hands down. If you havn't already discovered, pc-emulation takes quite a bit of tinkering and computer/hardware work b4 you get it going. Once all the bugs are worked out, it WILL WORK.
Perhaps the com port of your pc crapped out?? Have you tried switching com ports? If u decide to try, you need to open the cemu.ini file in notepad and change the COM port setting. Then go to file/save and giver a whirl.
Do you have a monitor hooked to the pc? Is their communication b/t pc and ird? What nag's (if any) does the tv say? Error 019, ect...??? Have you ever compiled cemu before (possibly a compile error)?? If you explain the symptoms others can help.
LIke I said, it takes tinkering and methodical trouble shooting. Most free'tvers would rather buy a POS plug-n-play device and have instantaneous TV, then bitch and complain when the support dries up. Whatever u decide, please don't choose that route!!

Since last week things have change, you prolly need to compile a new CEMU.exe version 1.3.44.

The peep that code and keep CEMU running would like you to compile the .exe file yourself they dont post it with the other files.
They do post the script to run in DGJPP to compile your own cemu.exe
They also frown on peep that publicly post the CEMU.exe file.
Do a little read on DGJPP and maybe ask if your not sure you have the latest files for it. Make your .exe and you should be good.

So there is no big advantage to swithing to ST19?

So there is no big advantage to swithing to ST19?
IMHO st19 is more stable and usually up for longer periods of time compared to CEMU. ST19 also works on dual tuner ird's, (rom103 based irds) where cemu doesn't.
Perhaps the biggest advantage to st19 is that it is a true rom102/rom103 emulator. Thus, true rom102 codespace is used rather then rom10 codespace (what cemu uses). Tiers, ect...are MUCH easier to manipulate when using st19.
On the other hand, an advantage to cemu is that its open source. Many people work on a fix, or if you have the knowledge, can fix it yourself. Whereas, st19 you have to wait for PGM to post the latest compiled .exe. However, it has ALWAYS been posted very quickly.
