Usb Atmega256 question

I have read the "Sticky on How Too Usb Atmega256". My question is Usb Atmega256 dont run with Blockers or do they?

It is my understanding that the Atmega256 is just an Atmega128 on steroids. If this is the case, then the chip cannot be "locked" by the provider, therefore the software that the coder produces is all you need.
