510's are famous for many problems....from overheating harddrives to unseated tuner chips to bad power supplies. Do both the red and green light come one? or Just the red or just the green? (for that 4-5 seconds).

Just the green light

Sounds like a power supply. If your firmware was corrupted or it detected a harddrive problem, the red light would flash on with the green (and sometimes both just light and stay lit).

1: did u do anything to it to make it do this
2: do you have a card in it?
3: leave sat connected and card in it then wait (in stream) for 15 min and see if it comes on

possibly a bad FLUX-CAPACITOR

i don't see any replies by the poster...maybee he got it.

newbie working on my first 510, after going back to 080 the IRD refuses to see the 110 bird, is it normal? Seats for hours on the "Status: Acquiring Satellite" message

If already did the check switch routine like a million times... using a Dish 500 antenna, I know the LNB was working when the IRD was running 405, and and can connect a 301-13 which works perfectly, I even switches cables between them but no matter what I do, the 510 doesn't see the 110 bird... my guess it needs a newer version to see the 110, but getting stuck at que aquiring signal for hours.... the signal on the 119 bird is a strong 102, and sees all TPs... what should I do next?

Thanks for your help.

Wont see 110 until it updates, that is normal, it will update fine on 119 then do a switch test again and you will have 119.

after you write virgin f/w, you can do a check switch, but as said earlier, it will only see 119.

after your check switch, just let it sit and it will update quickly. then do another check switch and it will see all your birds and transponders.

Dish was having probs for awhile yesterday though with p4.06 -- with eeprom problems. they fixed it after a few hours though -- early morning.

well, it's been hours (more than 24) and the screen sits exactly at the same spot: "Warning: Vital program information will now be downloaded into your receiver. Do not disturb or unplug it. Status: Acquiring Satellite..." and the progress bar it's at zero, nothing moves...

I've tried with the receiver on for more that 24 hours, turning it off for about 12 hours (with a valid card inserted), also without a card...

What's the correct way to get the 510 upgraded? On/off, card/no card?

Does anyone knows what's the TP the software should be comming from?

I even changed to another set of antennas with an SW21 and behaves exactly as with the Dish500...

Thanks for all your help guys!

I bought this receiver off of mili about 6 months ago, just started acting up, where should i start to check on the power source in the receiver, what usually goes bad to make one come on for about 5 secs and go back off never does boot.

So I finally fixed my problem, I noticed on the sysinfo screen que IRD wasn't reading the card number right (all zeroes), until I tried with a real ROM102 card the IRD was able to read the card number (I was using an atmega), after that, the IRD took the update inmediatelly.
