I have a 311 with the activated card slot (cut trace method) . The receiver took the new firmware update, and now I get "card not inserted correctly" error. Dose anybody have a fix for this ?

I just notch the card, now everything is okay.

In the back of the card slot there is a reset switch that gets activated every time you insert the card. So I took my rom 102 card and cut a 1/8 notch where the switch hits the card. Now when I insert my card it dosen't hit the reset switch. Looking at the top of the card the switch hits the left corner about 1/4 inch in from the edge. So I maid a notch about 1/4 inch long and 1/8 deep. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply's. I did the card notch trick and dont get the SCNIC, however now i get internal communication error. Does it matter which method was used to do the card slot mod originally? Could that be the problem? Any help would be appreciated. thanks

I am getting ready to mod my 311. So am I understanding right, that the new 311 firmware is activating the card slot .

New firmware is only activating some of the 311's cardslots, It may be a ird number issue. Reason I know this, My next door neighbor just subscribed yesterday to DN and was giving 2 311's and a 625dvr. The 311's are using internal rom 102's still rev 28A. If these were just installed the end is not near I would say.

If jump around the reset switch you won't have this problem. So I would would use the no cut method if you are going to use a rom 102 card. The latest firmware checks to see if there is a card in the card slot. By jumping the reset switch you won't have this problem. Anyway thats the way I was lead to understand this.
