No. The D.C. locals are spotbeamed.

But you can get them on a spiffy new super high def spotbeam stealer receiver that Mr. Coolsat is going to put out.

C'mon guy....Don't just look at what Lizard King is writing....READ IT.

Your receiver can't receive what ain't there. Spotbeams are a tight beam sent from the satellite over a certain area (city). The locals are shot down this way. Most spotbeams extend about 100-300 miles from the center of the city that they are meant for.

Some cities (New York, Chicago, San Fran) are up on the satellite, but those are on the widebeam shot (the entire country).

Washington DC is spotbeamed, as is Orlando, Florida. You can't receive one in the others city.

Hope this helps.

New York has the network "flagship stations" for the east coast and San Francisco has the "flagship stations" for the west coast. They are located in the 230-251 and 5000's area. These are also known as "Superstations" (although they technically are not).

Do not check off on the New York or San Fran locals...you won't get those.

Clarksburg/Weston, WV
Columbus, OH
Dayton, OH
Erie, PA
Sioux City, IA
Wausau/Rhinelander, WI
Wichita Falls, TX/Lawton, OK

The HD locals on 129 that are NOT spotbeamed are:

Albuquerque, NM
Atlanta, GA
Chicago, IL
Denver, CO
Kansas City, MO
Los Angeles, CA
Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN
Nashville, TN
Salt Lake City, UT

Notice that NONE of them are in Washington, D.C.

Willham. Before you keep asking about individual cities, you can only receive the locals for the major city that you are near (if you are within 100-300 miles of it).

99% of all locals are spotbeamed, whether standard definition or High-Def.

As I posted already (post #9 of this thread), there are still a few CONUS (Continental U.S.) locals (both SD and HD) that one can get on 129.

However, as of last spring, all of the locals on 61.5 are now spotbeamed. As recently as last winter, one used to be able to get New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. on 61.5, but no longer.

For Florida on 61.5, only Tampa and Orlando locals are available, and they're both spotbeamed.
