A buddy got 301 at a yard sale it came with the sw and the new card and it still working with the sw card and its saying to put the new card in on ch 998 should he do it before it go off or just leave it out.

I would not do it, the new card is most likely a Virgin card, so in the near future you could maybe program that card without being locked out of it...

I agree with bigpappi, sounds like the seller upgraded to HD or the unit is HOT and his old account is probably still active for another few weeks. Don't touch it, ride it out until it goes dark. PS I'd keep it unplugged when not watching tv but sooner or later they'll hit the card or the stream will change. Milli has SOx cards that are cheap and from what I've heard have been sent out to those with older IRD's..........that might be the way to go as they have been compromised but as yet not Freeware.
