Hello,
I've searched but I still cannot find an answer to my question. Anyone using a Diplexer to split their cable feed into a Digital Cable box? Does it work, no issues?

Thanks

my diplexers do not allow a couple of digi channels from an antenna to pass.
i have tried several brands but all have the same symptom so i have to say any diplexer may cause issues with digital rf signals. hth

2getwired is basically right. The diplexer will (sorta) mess up some digital signals since it's an analog device. What specifically are you trying to do? I have a very complicated cable wiring setup myself (cable guy can't figure it out). I have two diplexers, several splitters and a lot of cable.

In my setup: the main cable co. line runs through a filter before entering a splitter. Its just used for my cable modem and the additional filter keeps the channels I backfeed into the cable from entering the cable company's line and lowering my signal strength. I have all my other TVs connected to this splitter. The family room TV is connected to the splitter through a diplexer to combine the sat and cable into one. It then gets (un)diplexed if you will, and fed into the sat and the cable side goes through a splitter to my modem. The other side of the splitter is connected through an amplifier to my modulated output on my dual tuner ird, which backfeeds to the other TVs in the house.

I was told by both the cable company and dish that I cant do this (because it is impossible to wire) yet it did and it works great! I wasn't able to run extra cables in the house since I rent and I couldn't relocate anything. I have not had any problems with it, besides a little signal loss which is to be expected.

It is a mess, But really in a nutshell if the gear wasn't made to work with them it will have issues. I run a few in my setup here and they do the job 95 percent of the time other 5 percent is problems.

I use a diplexer with my Sat and Cable feed and have issues with mine. I am not able to receive any of the digital channels when I run the cable from my cable service or OTA through the diplexer. If I bypass the diplexers then I am able to receive the digital channels. This is a bit annoying since I only use one cable for Sat and Cable service.

Well, most diplexers were designed before all this new technology came out. The diplexer is pretty much just two filters, that filter the upper frequencies out to provide just the cable signals. The second filter is 'supposed' to remove the cable signal and just allow the sat feed to come through. In my experience, this filter doesn't exist, but I may be wrong.

The digital cable probably wont work because the frequency is so high that the filter in the diplexer removes it, thinking it was for the sat. I dont know what your cable company uses for their digital cable, but I'm sure its up there.

pswine - you might be able to get by with a couple of splitters. You'll need a special splitter that allows the DC to pass through on one leg, otherwise your LNB wont get power. Wire it so that the DC pass through is connected to the LNB and the other 'output' is connected to the cable coming into your house. Then, use the second splitter to split the cable to your IRD and cable box, making sure the DC passthrough goes to the ird. I'm not sure if this will work but couldnt hurt to try. Also, make sure that there isn't any DC going to your cable box, otherwise it my get ruined. You can use a meter to check the f-connector. good luck
