C numbers are capacitors. Most likely you polarity on the adapter you used was wrong, (+/- or positive/Negative).

Forget RadioSHAFT, check electronic components in the yellow pages. Are you sure it's a resistor?

Mentioned it's right underneath where the external PS plugs in.....could be a Diode to protect from reverse polarity....maybe?

Is it..........tough to describe 'short & fat' ??

I'm not familiar with your board but there is no need for a resistor, since there is an onboard TO3 5V Regulator and caps to 'smooth' out things to pure DC.

If it is a diode and blew, easy enough to replace but who knows what happened 'behind it'.

The TV repair shops are long gone, check out the yellow pages for Audio Repair shops. Frankly, I'd just jump the dead component and if it works, fine if not...........cheaper to just buy a new one from Mili (trust me, it will involve more of your time and expense than the object is worth should you attempt to repair it)!
