Ok the story...moving from current house to apartment..not allowed to mount dish on apartment...if i can get away with it on the balcony the superintendent said I could...Whats the best way???Im northish of detroit...tripod and regular size dish???....can I use a smaller dish mounted on the tripod??I only need to get 110 or 117..not both..would be more then happy with one.How can the tripod be mounted so that the wind or thieves do not affect it????Much hep would be appreciated..I currently have a pansat converted to fortec setup..and as we know ther4e is freezing at the moment

Forget the tripod, if your worried about someone stealing it. Get yourself a 5 gallon bucket, piece of 1 5/8" fence pipe and a bag of concrete. Just make sure you have a view to the satelite, and the pipe is plumb in both directions.

Havasu hit the primary point....from your balcony, do you have a view of the southwestern sky, where the sats are???

I also use a bucker, fence pole, and concrete from Home Depot (total cost about $15).

its facing the same direction yes as my current setup...It was a quick look....I will just have to see if there are trees or whatever in the way..I move in on the third so we shall see...

i suppose the hardest part will be to make sure the pipe is plumb

You can use tripod, keep pole as short as possible, get a clear view south west. Place three concrete slabs under each leg, drill and screw down.

I mounted mine to the balcolny using 2 metal plates and bolts. I clamped it to the railing with the plates and bolts. Works great
