xxx.warez-bb.org is a good place to find warez. have to register but it is free and well worth it. most links are rapidshare so without a account it will take a while to download all of the parts

Windows 2000 recovery mode will gain you full access (admin) to the files on the system... if you need any of them.
If you know what file to delete/modify to remove the password this could be helpful.
I recommend getting windows student edition, unless you have a key and are stuck on using the home edition....

Much eaiser to remove the PW, there are a bunch of them out, but I have had no problem's with password reset. I used it on several occations. I just used it last month on a buddies theft recovered laptop. Was able to see the thief's files and history.
Hope this helps,
T
If you can find a legit copy and install it, then you can use a keychanger utility. Much smaller download and you will have a legit copy with a generated password. These copies will update with windows update no problem. I can't remember what my key changer utility is, but they're pretty common. Try Pirate Bay if you torrent. Get uTorrent and start if you don't torrent yet.

ophcrack will find the password to your system. Just boot your computer from the CD, let it run, and it will find all the account passwords. It comes in XP and Vista versions. If you just want to clear the administrator password, I use Austrumi version 0.9.2 Boot the computer from the cd, type "nt_pass", without the quotation marks, and follow the instructions. Make sure you get only version 0.9.2. Essential tools for anyone unfortunate enough to have to work on Windows systems.

That site is a phishing site according to some AV software crazy. My AV won't even let me open the page to sign up.

Possibly, because Microsoft doesn't want you going there. It opens fine with my Mac.

If you say it's a Dell, then Google xp dell iso, there are torrents for xp home and xp pro for Dell computers or contact Dell for a replacement CD.
Hey
Dont want to hijack this, but i have to comment on what JT said.
Some Warez sites are full of pop ups and adverising gimics which install spyware, just be sure if you are going to SOME of the warez sites you find on the net to have your AV running and a good spyware programme too.
Incedently i have never been to the one Crazy mentioned so i dont know about that one,but i know there is afew eastern European ones i would not go near! Just my opinion tho :)
If you are going down the Torrent route i would download Vuze then do a search for the program using that, it will cover the best torrent sites out there and find you the best results.
Otherwise what i normally would suggest , i cant post here as its not allowed LOL..Sorry!
Hope you fix it tho :)

If you have the OEM XP Product Key, call Dell and ask for a copy of said lost disc. If there is no sticker on the laptop (sounds like you purchased it used) still try calling them and give your serial #.
Hell it came with their OEM version and perhaps for $15 they'll send out another disc? As for forgetting your P/W, sounds like it's Not Yours. Was this a Pawn Shop special?
PS or a Bar parking lot Bargoon??
PPS Pawn Shops want to see it boot, damn.................. them 1:30 AM parking lot deals are difficult at the easiest of tiimes...................................
This isn't 'testing', it's probably purchasing stolen goods, that's why you can't call Dell to ask for Help, C'mon!

Any OEM disk will work Dell is about the only manufacture that delivers them with product. Any Dell disk will install XP or WME and not flag for activation. An after market OEM will also work if you use the OEM sticker key but it will require activation. The OEM sticker key is not compatible with Retail so If you install a retail version XP off the shelf from Staples the OEM sticker key will not work, windows wont allow you to enter or change the key its a miss match.
All that being said I would go to a local shop not a chain shop and ask if you could purchase a Dell OEM copy. of home, pro, or media edition all 3 will work and you wont have to activate it. If its a vista machine same deal as far as Dell goes. But the MB only carries the royal vista key and XP will have to be activated. Most of these small shops are happy to burn a copy and stick 20 25 in their pocket.

I wonder the same many times, I've had people bring them with locked CMOS passwords that prevent the OS from starting. I forgot my password, sure you did. My boss bought an IBM that way off ebay I spent an afternoon following online instructions and building a rig to tap the CMOS chip to dump the pass. Pissed off Employees headed for the door will do that also. Then the company just sells them cheep. On the newer CMOS if someone pass locks the HD you might as well toss it in the trash can. These are just my personal experiances may be informitive to someone.

Unlock what? windows, CMOS, Hard Drive
busting threw the windows password is kids play you can DL plenty of ways to kick that door down.
The geek squad uses Winternals ERD Commander same as I do on my Bart disk to change password.
They got their tit in a ringer with the company for not buying LIC for all their TECHs. Microsoft now owns them, Winternals.
The change password works for vista as well.
