97.00w Telestar 5

Hi everybody
is 97.00w telestar 5 with free to air international chs still active??
i tried to pick up the signal with no luck, using the original dish & lnb i had years ago, it use to work fine, so now after i lost the arabic international on my 102, i nedded to go back to the 97.00 fta, but so far no luck.
any advice or alternative will be greatly appreciated.

you using atleast a 3ft dish? not going to hit it with anything less than that size and its a pain to hit

97 is up and running here with a 39" dish, not sure about your channel, but alot of them are now incrypted. I have not noticed to much of a change in the signal quality over the last couple of years.

it is nice to know it is still up & running, i'm using the same dish & lnb i had before & i couldn't hit it yesterday, i will try again today as long as i know now it is still there.

not yet i will try again later on today, i used to get the international fta arabic chs on it, i would like to see if they still there...

Hello ka2002 :Let me give you some tips and info. About Sat 97.0 also called Galaxy 19, aka bitch satellite signal to get.Set your receiver to frequency 11836 V, this is one of the strongest frequency in that Sat, therefor is the easiest way to find the Satellite,isntead of trying to locate it with a weak frequency.Everytime you move the dish towar the 97.0 W. try to make moves of half of an inch with a period time of ten seconds between every move,you have to give time for the signal to get to the receiver.If you get it try to get al least 70% of Quality, not signal. Also don’t forget to check your LNB polarization. I think is like 10 0r 15 degree clockwise.(if the LNB is twisted to the right pointing to the dish one o’clock direction then the polarization is set already, don’t move it).And last comment,if you always have signal problem with that Sat,let me give an advise: if you are willing to spend $40 - $50, buy yourself another LNB, cuz I think you may have a 0.6db or 0.7db low noise figure LNB. Get yourself a 0.2db or 0.3db LNB. As low the noise figure as better,cuz this will filter much better the signal, and can inprove the signal up to 15 %.
Ps: I already check them for you at web site : Lyngsat dot com and they all still there. So your problem is signal. Good Luck.
