View Full Version : New look, new FAQ, new product working.
As you may have noticed there were some slight changes made to the forum. No, I am not referring to the product's pictures on top...
I felt the need for change and "change" being so popular lately I gave in to my craving and took the plunge. I hope you life the results not to mention I also fixed the quick search button and upgraded the forum.
I also installed a dynamic FAQ script at
http://dssftp.com/forum/slinger.jpg
Slinger FAQ (http://www.bellexpress.vu/slingerfaq)
where you may enter questions not already answered about the product.
I spent Sunday setting up a Bell system testing the Slinger on their public private IKS channel as they call it. So far so good and setting the system up was easy following the How To on http://bellexpress.vu/Slinger.html
I will post some observations tomorrow once I finished all forum upgrades. This is it for now.

I think the background is too white,as I cant see schematics and it is hard on my eyes--although maybe more opinions are needed--lol--jmho--and the Welcome to THE Mili's Marauders-is that a typo??-or like The Ohio State Buckeyes---???????

looks good .worried me for a sec.about didn't sign in .lOL
This is really trivial, but one feature that we had and don't now is I like the little deal that told us when we last logged on. I liked the "you last logged on x hours ago" or what ever it may be stat.
Oh, and I just noticed this. I HATE the "infraction" option. I will never use that childish BS option myself. It makes us look like this is kindergarten IMO. This isn't total's site either. We can cuss, post naked pics and openly critisize here. No need for an infraction button. Verbal warnings and a ban if that doesn't work is all we need here IMO.
Hi, I have to agree that the background is a little too bright.
But more importantly, the fonts need to be made a bit larger for those of us that are optically challenged. I almost have to put my reading glasses on to see what I'm typing.
Thanks.
Maybe a bit larger front too would be nice. You know, for those old geezers and poor folks that don't have a 27 inch monitor. :)

I love the colours - pretty much Windows colours - i can check out the site at work now and no one really notices . LOL
After we read a thread and come back to the main page,
the thread that we just read should be highlighted or
change color to indicate we have already read that one.
Hey guys, if it's too hard to read, just highlight it.
Click and drag cursor.
Yah! Font is too small.

I worked all night on this but it is not finished. Will adjust the font and keep the suggestions coming.

It's too bad they don't offer the old skin with newer versions of VBulletin. (I'm assuming thats why the new skin anyway) I bet the update will cure the spammer issues, at least for a while anyway. Updating VBulletin is a bitch sometimes. All the little settings and stuff often have to be manually changed and all kinds of little stuff needs to be tweaked to get things how you want them after updating. Don't think mili is joking when he said he was up all night working on this. It's a PIA.

Here are some bugs I noticed:
From the front page (home) there are a lot of missing pictures, such as the header picture and the such.

Sorry Mili, I know you've put alot of work into it, everything works great but I gotta agree with the guys above, it's too bright! Sometimes I'll surf here on laptop battery power, the new "white" background really chews up the battery...
Kudos for trying to improve your already awesome site though!!!
Oh yeah, robkermit has a point ^^^^, I'm experiencing the same thing...

I love that the search function works now....on the old site it was hit and miss....now it works GREAT!
Internet Exploder completely ignores the style variables while Firefox displayed things perfectly. I just fixed IE display by making a second directory with the same image files where IE was looking.
Yes the search is fixed, fonts are made bigger.
JT ignore the infraction icon, it is an integrated VB 3.8.x feature I may remove later on if I got time. I suspect all those complaining the blindingly bright background were using IE. Let me know now please.
I also fixed the corrupted threadview table and it now correctly displays how many times a thread was viewed.

It looks like this question was left out in the FAQ.
Will Slinger work with FTA with Card Slot, eg Dreambox, Viewsat.
I think it could if a compatible bin is available?:confused::confused:

There's an 'ask a question' button at top right of the FAQ.
I cut n pasted yours there. Mili will answer there.

I need a night-guy color mili. night guy can't handle these day-guy colors...
Something opposite of whats here now with blu background and white titlebar or something....
can we choose our own colors? that would be awesome... or even better, timed color schemes so if day-guy logs in during day-time he gets day-guy scheme.. but when night-guy is on the prowl he can log in with night-guy colors...
Other than that I enjoy the new look, features, and working search (finally) the buttons are easy to see now. the banner seems a bit out of place though.

Mili-The new site is awesome--however the background color is way too light and the general consensus after reading the posts here say the same. PLEASE, change the color back to the way it was before-Thanks!!!!!
Sorry but I can't without messing up the whole style.
