Hi All,
Is there a way to mod without the internet? I have the twiilight hack on and the homebrew but I am at 3.3 and can't get the backup copies of the games to work. I have read and read but am not finding much. any help please? I don't really care if its not online, I just want to play :) but not with a brick.
Dumb question from an old lady, I am on a dsl connection on my computer. What do I need to get to get the wii online? I have tons on dishes here:o
Thanks in advance, I have been reading here but not posting.

Not sure, because I mod'd my Wii with the Twilight/Homebrew Hack a long time ago, BUT...I do not think you are supposed to play "Live" games online. That is a quick way to get your Wii blacklisted.
I have BUNCHES of games that I downloaded that work fine (some just won't work with the Twilight/Homebrew Hack). The trick is that you have to have a good burner program and use QUALITY DVD or CD blanks when you burn or they just won't work.
If you are at wits end...you can always just flash your Wii back to it's unhacked state and just rent some games...?

You only need the net while downgrading the unit, as its easier for the console to find, download, and use the files than to do it manually - and also less illegal.
To modify it, install TP hack, install HBC, install starfall, install any required IOS or softmod files does NOT need the net, to use the modification does NOT require the net either.
You probably have to use your computer to get the files though and plop them on the SD, which you do need.
If you got a hardwired router, nintendo makes a lil usb to ethernet dongle that you can pickup at gamestop for $25 or so. should get it online if you don't haev a wifi router, or any close neighbours that do either.

With the new chan exploit these things are easier to mod than PSPs. seriously. download a zip file, extract to your wii and hit reset and A a bunch of times... bam, playing games from a USB drive. Now you can throw a 32GB SD in there and play your hacked VC games from that too...
Nintendo are you all shooting up on some nice black afgani heroin? cause your updates are making it seem you are!

youtube.
Search wii flatmod install or wii wasabidx install or wii drivekey install and the 2 min long video will show you all you need to know. You have more of a chance fucking the wii up taking it apart than installing the chip. Long as you know the difference between DVD and WII you are fine.

Wow, you do not deserve any more help. Every one of those chips listed are solderless - and the perform the same. I had most success with WasabiDX. Others will tell you different. Same price, same concept, same install. if your too lazy to help yourself past this then pay someone $50 to plug your damn chip in.

Sorry, I read it wrong. my bad. first sentence made it seem like you never even looked into the chips I mentioned.
The WasabiDX can be soldered for easy 6x speed on old units, or installed solderless for 3x on all units. This is the most flexible chip and I had no install issues unlike with Flatmod and DriveKey. DriveKey has apparently resolved these issues, but I ain't gonna buy into it. Flatmod is rumored to be rock solid. ya rite. After I RMA'd 4 of my 5 chips from dead drive syndrome I think not. 5 for 5 on wasabi and all work both methods even though the firmware is still beta. This is only my experience. read forums at wiinewz dot com for more info. they seem slanted flatmod though just fyi.
Check their respectful sites for the resellers, each chip has one and most retail for around $50 US plus shippin. I deal with modchipcentral and no issues with them, fast ship, A1 customer service - but you may be in a different country too which could cause issues. Where ever you get it, make sure its reputable. These things are easily cloned in the cheap Chinese factory they are produced, then updates and features may not work down the road.
as for the games. www. abgx .net for releases and release names, then google & bing finds decent torrents, usenet if you want them quick with SSL...
hxxps://www. newzleech .com/ even has a banner for $11/mth access, very reliable. More than Wiii games on there too. Maxes out my 25Mbit connection almost 24/7
for a usenet reader I recommend newsleecher or SABnzbd depending on your platform. If you go free and want torrents, I am of no help.

Try this place .goldenbridge.hk just add the www to it I purchased my wasabi dx thru them. 32 bucks / free ship too. Check out go to google and put in wii iso. That is a good start, with many ntsc iso games. Download bit torrent and away you go. I currently have both setups running on one machine (mod chip and TP hack), I use a Western Digital 500GB external HD, have about 60 games on it and counting. If you go the burn route, make sure you use a good quality DVD-R, I have found Maxell works best for me with imgburn @1x for backups. I put all the games for the kids on the hard drive and keep the sdult games on disk.
good luck
