Any up todate information surrounding a hack/mod for PS3 yet? Are they close ?

No hack, but been hearing soon for a while.

at one point they were able to re-write the firmware. Seems they were not able to do what they wanted to do, unless they are still working on it.

all hacks on the ps3 thus far, with the exception of the PS2 ISO loader, are duff. merely cumbersome (but working) tricks to do some neat stuff. The HDD decryption method - although geniusly figured out is painstakingly slow and very difficult... but is shedding a bit of light, which could help.

The units been out since 2006, 2.5 years, and nothing for PS3 titles.. thats how horrible, or experimental sonys equipment is.

Than again any PS3 hack that don't use the internal HDD or a USB drive to load things from is pointless as very few people are going to shell out the money needed for a bluray writer ($300 or so) and $40 US a piece dual layer blanks, when the authentic game is $5 more and guaranteed to work - unlike if you are writing a 50GB disc at 10MB/s and have a power outage...

Now if bd-r dl come down in price, or sony stops horribly designing all their games so they fit on single layer $5 media, we are talkin.

If you want next-gen graphics at a fraction of the cost, with a superior online community, and faster loading everything - 360 all the way.

Unless you want to play Socom ! ! and for that you'll need a PS3.:D

yes, there are 12 games that are ONLY on the PS3... like MGS, Motorstorm, GT, Socom, ratchet and clank, resistance, little big planet... They are all short games though. a simple console rental will suffice.

On the other hand, if you want to play bluray or want wifi without springing $100 for an adapter, you may want to consider ps3 lol

yeah, supurb bluray players.. as for the wifi you can get a $20 router that will work fairly well as a wifi bridge provided you have a foot or 2 of ethernet cable (usualy comes with) and a power plug :)

you beat me to the punch my xbox360 "wireless" is a cheap linksys wrt54g and ddrt firmware. But alas no blue ray. I would probably get a ps3 if there was a hack. Cause honestly ps3 is the mercedes of the 2 cause mine has a repair record of a volkwagen.

PS3 is terrible for those who want to 'save' the blurays tho. at about 8-10hr to back up a movie its kinda useless. damn things only have a 2x bd-rom... figure that out compared to the 12x dvd-rom in a 360 - no one can say the PS3 is faster, its physically impossible. Also I hate HATE the 100MB updates every 2-3 weeks. Sony makes NO sense. I hope they go under. I do agree tho I went through 12 (yes twelve) 360's and only two PS3...

Cheaper to get a $200 xbox360 and a $100 BD-R drive, then mod the 360 for $8,and rip bd disc to watch on your computer - which is connected to your home entertainment centre.. 1TB drives for $70-80 will hold 40-50 movies... cheaper than 40-50 dual layer bdr. AnyDVD HD is everyones friend along with powerDVD :)
