View Full Version : Slinger FAQ
People read the whole FAQ before posting another question in there which has already been answered. No for the 1000th time YOU CAN NOT USE ANY FUCKING FTA RECEIVERS INCLUDING YOUR VIEWSATS with the Slingers. You need a real Dishnet or Bell receiver.

I have a 3100 010 receiver with atmega card. I would like to know if I need a BGA Tsop modification and
and BGA card. in order to use slinger. BGA Tsop modification $144.00 + BGA Card $19.00 + Slinger $199.00 = $362.00 US Dollars correct. For each reciever in my house a cost of $362.00 each receiver
is that correct?

where do you download control words that open up the channels.

let me rephrase, where do you receive control word. is there a website?

once you've programmed the slinger and inserted wafer into ird, if connected to the net, it retrieves needed controls w's on its own....
this device is pure card-sharing, with the potential of developing a card-share server for the 'other' US provider

I understand that I only have to buy a slinger. I am running No RSA DishNetwork
IRD # R00 1864 2028-XX CAM ID S00 6043 6852 BOX KEYS 8C A6 A8 FD E2 E2 63
These are public numbers since there is a card swap in the USA by DishNetwork my television says that
if I do not have a new DishNetwork card by April 1st 2009. That I will not receive any television from
Dishnetwork. Is it possible that I could purchase a private tsop flash IRD Number and private CAM ID from a new card that is subbed. Just to be safe from going down.

I have a 612 and I would like to share my card (through two slingers) with my 322. What would I have to do to the recievers? Since I'll be setting the 612 DVR as my server and the 322 as my client.

i'm no expert, however it's my understandind that afer purchasing a slinger, you will share card with a group via internet. you will not be sharing your card with your oher receiver. it will be streamed to you.

I have no idea about your current IRD models, but if talking dual tuners........well that could be a problem. You're talking two Sl*ngers...........so a one IRD per black box??
Dunno', reading the above and looks like you omitted something and I'M NOT A SL*NGER EXPERT but follow the <T>hread, as I just Love the Larceny. ;-)
Anything, we can do to give Beverley or Charlie Heartburn goes down well with me.
PS Oh, let's include one of our Favorites...................CABLE...........wouldn 't it be nice to crack that Scientific Atl*anta box?

I don't see answer in FAQ list. Iwant to run directly behind the modem out of a hub (no router). Is this Possible!
Yes it is but if you are assigned only one IP by your ISP the Slinger will take it and your PC will get none or the other way around. If the modem has a router built in (read my modem and router config how to on www.bellexpress.vu ) then do a port forward in your modem (router)

O.K. -- I read the router configurastion for the slingers that you posted on "TEAM LEGENDS" -- I printed out the instructions and followed them from where it said how to configure a WESTELL 6100 DSL Modem as a bridge, which is exactly what I have, when I got to:
PRESS THE RELEASE BUTTON(It is listed as Disconnecxt on older versions.) -- I could not find either one of these to proceed.
When I try to join the slinger owners group, it says that I do not have permissions to access this page -- What is going on?

I'm running a westell 6100 in bridge mode on bellsouth dsl with a Belkin N router set to DHCP server, slinger works great with 2.0. I don't remember seeing a "Release" button in the modem setup in fact it was really easy. My modem is a C90-610030-06, Wind River.
What exactly are you trying to do? You can google search westell 6100 bridge mode
and maybe find your answer.

Thanks for the information.
Instead of messing with the Westell modem and Lynksys router combination, I just went with my Actiontec model GT704WG wireless modem.
Just plug into it and away we go!
Thanks,

Hi Guys
I am confused about the Rom 102 Married EEPROM question
This is what I have
1) 301 with Yellow card which had rom code sub ( and is lying around atm ) - it was never purchased from Dish, a friend of mine jtagged with box keys which was given by Rom Code
2) Legit 301 with Purple card and a subscription
So Which one would work? for slinger?
The prob is ROmcode's BIN only works with ROmcode. You will have to JTAG that IRD with the public numbers and use the public BIN with the SLigner.

I'm surfing as we 'type', my 'Tivo like device' is receiving a movie from a guy in Alaska, my daughter is surfing the net in her room (better not be downloading music girl!). and my Slinger is a slingin.
So, yes you can use your internet connection whilst slinging.

After following mili's post and his instruction come back to the Slinger forum here if you have any problems or questions.
The Slinger is an awesome device and works as well as the old N2 w/plastic.
There have been a few bugs, but the Slinger people have worked them out and mili has provided great help for us all. He is very patient and gives his full support to his products which is something others fail to do.
You will be very pleased with your purchase.

The easy way is to get two Powerline Ethernet Adaptors. That way you plug in one of them and run an ethernet cable to your router and plug in the other Powerline adaptor wherever you want to hook the Slinger up to the TV attach an ethernet cable to the Slinger and the adaptor.
Problem solved!

Just get the Slinger and program it, setup the router for the Slinger and flash the IRDs with a public flash (you need a JTAG for this). You will use the image that comes with the Slinger software for the Slinger. No cards necessary!
Doesn't get any easier than this!

Thanks Bandit. One question, I have been looking at the adapters and see the transfer rates from 14mbs up to 85mbs. What would you recommend or what would be the minimum needed for the slinger?
Thanks again - flasho

I was not online this late afternoon up until now, but I think the Slinger was being a YoYo late today. Working fine now so I would ask if you have made a connection with your setup at this point?

I am not sure, but I know several peeps who are using them with their Slinger and they work fine. I have a pair hooked up to run a computer and SpeedTest shows them passing 31MBps which is way better than WiFi!
