View Full Version : Reset?

Ok, I'm pulling my hair out trying to make this work on my network. I'm good with networking and router configs and such, so I understand that part.
But....
How, exactly, can I "reset" the slinger to its original state? I ask this because it will not give me any real ports in the box (you know, the ones "hardcoded" into it) now... it just gives 1004, 2004, 3004, etc instead of the real ones I need... and I do need to know those to configure the network. and i know that the ones it is giving me now are not right because it showed me real ones before...
I've tried the reset button on the side of the thing, but it doesn't seem to clear anything...
Help?
You are not making sense. The source ports you can configure to be anything, I recommend using something above 1024
The destination ports (the online server's ports) are hard coded into the Slingers. You can't change those.

I didn't want to change them... just see them... but no matter.
I've got a 510 I've been running with private numbers for years... does not seem to like the new setup. Someone mentioned in another thread he had to switch to the public numbers/tsop and it worked then... is this true?
Fubr got one working on public 510 I think.

Has anyone got one working with Private numbers though?
I can load public onto it, but it is a bit of a bitch on this particular box... as long as my 722 will work when you are done with it, perhaps I'll just wait for it to come back home. I can do without SpankVision until then... haha

Milli i have my 510 working on private numbers since i got my slinger man i love this slinger .....
Well try it. You need to tell me what is your network setup there, what exact errors are you getting all there is. I can't mind read from a distance and can't remember your situation if you posted all the info in another thread.

well, eventually I'll put it through the wirless setup but I've not been able to get it going with even a direct cable to the router so far...
510 with private numbers. Works great with plastic... been using it for years with this configuration.
Linsys/Cisco RV082 router with dual WAN inputs to separate "dumb" DSL modems (router is the gateway). I've disconnected one WAN just to be sure it isnt sketching out on input from different IPs too...
I hook it up and the 510 tells me my new card is accepted and I'm good to go... was excited to see that - the first time...
Slinger goes through its paces and receiver boots up... free preview channels only, switch to anything else and black screen... slinger flashes green.... then orange, then green... but no picture/sound.
If I wasn't getting UDP, it wouldn't go green would it?
I've set the router to pass everything under the sun to the slinger, but no love...
Now it might be because I've got a Frankenstein DVR510 with a completely invented sub... but I'm not so sure.
Definitely disable the second WAN link. The BIN you use for sure is a good BIN? Did you read it off the ROM102 card you are using? You are sure you forward all to the Slinger's IP? You read its lease from the router's DHCP table?
Try to disable all port forwards and only use one WAN link. What is the firmware of your receiver?

Firmware is latest, 408
I used the bin I loaded last year... been running blockerless all this time, worked well.. card updates itself..
I hesitate to glitch into the card to get today's bin, for obvious reasons.
All the numbers are right on the original anyway.. .except for the keys - could that be making a difference?
No keys are ignored. It is something else. I will put together a how to to run a network sniffer tomorrow. Get a cheap hub.

Damnit. My original question about the reset is the issue!.. or an issue anyway...
I've set up the port analyzer and what do I find?
This thing is trying to reach port "2004" on the server and I know that isn't the right port as the server responds as such...
How the heck can I reset this thing so that the real "hard coded" ports come back?

Cartoonz,
There's a text file in the directory with your Slinger program called "settings.txt". At the end of the file is a section that looks like this:
"
**NETWORK SERVER**
(the encrypted 64 bytes below determine how/where your slinger connects to the internet; do not edit or change. It will change from time to time and may vary with IKS channel.)
SERVERID:(A2 53 7F BE 78 C3 69 FB 40 1A B7 5D 74 B7 F1 07 72 43 D7 57 08 82 0F 75 57 54 37 2C E5 0E C5 A6 EC BB C0 6F BB C0 D1 49 EC BB C0 6F BB C0 D1 49 EC BB C0 6F BB C0 D1 49 EC BB C0 6F BB C0 D1 49);
"
I'm thinking that a change to this section entered manually might help your situation. Of course it is encrypted so you'll need someone in Slinger support to give you the numbers needed to change the ports/ip. Then again I could be wrong.
Have you checked to see if the settings.txt file is still there? Is it the same as the one that you downloaded? If not, I'd try using the original to see if it helps.
Best of luck!
