View Full Version : Just got my slinger! UP and working great :)

Got my slinger today and it is configured and working like a champ. I am using a BEFSR41v4 router. I had to forward the port that I used to program the slinger in the "port configuration". I also had to enable the Upnp button in the router setup utility.
I forwarded ports to use Superforge software a while back, and set up the slinger the same as I did for Superforge. It worked like a champ. I didn't need to use the "Upnp config tool" nor did I use the "PFConfig" software cause you gotta pay for the latter before it will program the router for you. I thought I could edit the router config utility myself instead of paying 30 bucks for a program I will use once or twice.
I gotta admit, I have been doing quite a bit of reading on how to get this thing working before I even got this little buger. I programmed it using the client programming instructions that came with the slinger 1.08 software, remembered the source port and forwarded the port in my router config utility, set the LAN configuration to "automatic", connect slinger to my router, power up slinger with red light, then orange and orange blinking, then green blinking to solid green light. Slide in board, receiver reset and downloaded guide info......viola, video. Yes, it does work and hopefully it will keep kickin after the n2 stream is shut off. :)

thats cool.... what rec. are you up and going with? did you have a good bin or did you have to find a public one? do you get the speed channel (150)?

DP301-010 public numbers, been using it with cemu and ST19XL emu.

I used the one that came with the slinger 1.08 software in the dumps folder.

yea, the slinger only work with public number for now,,
I'm been trying for two days, and not luck with my own number and getting black screen
as soon as I put public tsop bingo video..
they need to fix the software to work with different receivers numbers,,

I have always tested public numbers, very few ecm's targeting the public numbers. My private receiver tsops and cam don't get much use because of it.

No I don't. I noticed that 488 was supposed to be added tonight but I am getting the 084 order now nag.

I married the numbers. Been working for years... but not with this thing, LoL...
Waiting for my Slinger.... I'll use it with my 5100 but it's an ex-sub.. we'll see.

i get 198 channel and all the other are black ,but all the infor .is telling me what te shows about
If it gets picture on your ROM102 then I am sure it is good. You seem to be network savvy. Get Wireshark (google network analizer wireshark) and log the traffic going to the slinger. You need a hub to do it. Connect your logging PC as well as the slinger to a dumb hub (switch is not good) then that hub to your router. Turn off al software that uses the internet on the logging PC and start the logger on your network interface. YOu will see a HTTP session to the slinger server after which you should see UDP packets coming with your SLinger's IP as the target.

wireshark works very well
so do the private numbers I am using.
I got a set up with a wifi router (POS) and the slinger is on one of the ethernet ports.
my isp goes thru a modem so I have to tell the router to foward all traffic from the modem to the slinger (IP passthrough)
I can confirm that the slinger works like this and I am on a 6 secnd delay at best sometime 15 to get to the sat and back and it only frooze on me for just a second or two in an hours time
I am gonna do more on this with private numbers as time allows but I was trying to tweak it and fucked my router up so I will post full info once I get it fixed or buy a new one today.
PS: sweetheart, I used a static ip and the mac addy for the gateway I had to configure my router to a static ip as well and then port 2 on the router udp port fowarding.
it was like this
modem/router(isp gateway) 192.168.0.1 it has to be that on my modem subnet 255.255.255.0
the router was 192.168.0.2
the slinger I set to 192.168.0.8
and
I used the mac address of the 192.168.0.1 device I found it in the sys info of my router whil I was logged in.
it is not really a modem, nor is it really a router, it is a gateway device lol
but it damn sure did work with private numbers.

I have a dish 522 with married image that i have been using for a while now with my armulator. Lately my armulator support hasn't been so good so i started using emu. will the slinger work with my private information? I don't like using public information so that is why im asking.

Since I got my slinger working I decided to play a bit and see if this thing works wireless. The answer is a resounding YES.
I have a wired Linksys Router (BEFSR41) that is upstairs next to my cable modem. I use one of my 4 ethernet ports for my wireless-G Linksys Access Point (WAP54G). The slinger needs a ethernet cable to function, so I hooked up a Wireless-G Ethernet bridge (WET54G) to my slinger and they work perfectly together.
I first hooked up the slinger wired to my router to configure it and verify it is working. Then configured the bridge on my network with my ssid and wep key and it works just like I have a ethernet cable hooked up.
Very happy this thing works wireless cause I don't want to run new wires to my tv as I don't have an ethernet jack near it. I am experiencing some freezing on certain channels but I get that when I run wireless or wired. I am hoping that the powers that be will get that resolved soon.
Hope this helps if you want to run wireless, at least you know it DOES work.

I test cemu, st19xl, fta ultra and slinger. All are up presently.
