Hello, I'm very new to this site and have been looking into everything from smart card readers all the way to the Slinger. From what I see the Slinger is the best option there is. So I want to connect 3 televisions and from my understanding I'll need all of the following equipment: 3 Slinger IKS devices, 3 Dishnetwork receivers, 3 wirleless access points (or can I connect directly into my router to save some money?) and lastly a Dishnetwork dish up on the roof. Am I correct in my to buy list? I want to get the Slingers before the mad rush I've been reading about begins and I just want some expert advice so I don't waste $1,000 during a time when wasting money is not an option. Thanks in advance. I hope this is a good community as I have been in and around the scene for 10 years so I love contributing once I become an expert myself.

I'm not sure if the slingers fully support ROM103 in dual-tuner mode....but maybe you could save some money there...? Get a 322 and a 301 and the would cover down on three rooms and you would only need two slingers...?

Also, why get the wireless access points? Just hardwire the slingers to your router.

Yes, you need a dish on the roof (of course).

Just trying to help in this age of Obama-nomics.

Thanks for the reply, I looked up the 322 and saw one on ebay and it comes with an internal card. Will this present problems when using the slinger? Also I should have mentioned I would like to DVR programs as well. Sorry I didn't mention that before.

anything using an i-cam 102/103 will have the cam slot activated via firmware, so a 240/241 can be used...

You must have either a dump of a married ROM103 in that 322 or you must send the receiver out to be modded since a married BIN is a must. They support dual tuners.

When we get set up wth the Slinger, what will be the maintanence. Will we have to change keys once in a while, reprogram the card, what? Or once set up with the slinger, no problems?

From all that I am reading, the Slinger will be maintenance-free. It should autoroll keys and MECMs as any "normal" subscription card would.

Of course, I am still waiting on my VA check so I can endorse it over to Mili...

the slinger is a SUB SHARING DEVICE

As long as these conditions are met you should have NO issues:
1- valid server CAM subscription
2- active internet connection
3- compatible IRD
4- satellite feed
5- enough servers to host all clients

The 'client' should have nothing to do, its an FTA adapter for your IRD. Its not testing, its nothing you can do to 'fix' if it don't work.. Its a gamble.
