The slinger goes from red to orange and stays solid orange. Any suggestions.
I use verizon dsl WESTELL versalink model 327W. source port 1000 and destination port 4
The GW IP / GW MAC / Primary DNS are all zero. I do get IP address and subnet.
Destination port 4?????? Impossible.

Hey, Orbit, in the Slinger software, try clicking the diagnostics button and then click generate log. I did and apparently my slinger is working (well, sort of).
I bought two of them and they both do the same thing. Solid orange lite. I'm using a fixed IP address, not DHCP, so maybe that's why the light stays orange?
Here is the log file using Slinger software, apparently everything is peachy:
Software working; checksum okay.
2. DHCP:OK
Slinger acquired IP address and is recongnizable on your LAN network.
3. INTERNET:OK
Slinger successfully connected to the internet.
4. UDP:OK
Slinger successfully sent UDP packets over the internet.
5. PASSWORD:OK
Slinger successfully logged on to IKS Server.
*end of log*
EXCEPT THAT MY SLINGER DOESN'T WORK. I GET THE 019 NAG SMARTCARD NOT INSERTED CORRECTLY.
I AM PRETTY SURE THE SLINGER ISN'T TALKING TO MY RECEIVER BECAUSE IF I CLICK MENU->6->1->3 AND LOOK AT THE SYSTEM INFO I GET S00-0000-0000-00. I HAVE A 301-13 RECEIVER WITH P452 SOFTWARE. I AM USING A PRIVATE BIN.
Any suggestions? Anyone?

mark, are you sure the bin you wrote to the slinger interface is o.k.?

I have the same issue when I program with a fixed address, if I program it with the automatic it goes all the way to blinking green but no image and if I get solid I can watch promos but not the suscribed channels?

when i try to map my ports nothing happens ..sits there searching
since modem is alos built in wireless router could be the issue?
but more improtantly when i used the married eeprom it still says invalid card.. would slinger not communicating on the network would have anything to do with this error message?

Omare, thanks, but I don't think it's the bin. I wrote it several times and still the same result.
Just an FYI, I think it's a port forwarding problem. I found a clue on another website that solid orange means the slinger isn't getting control words from the server. The light is supposed to turn green. If you look for stuff like this in the troubleshooting guide, you won't find it. The troubleshooting guide isn't much help.

Orbit, I'm no expert but have you tried a direct connection to your router? Seems like it's hard enough trying to get this thing to work when it's cable connected!! And yes, I think you aren't connecting to the internet, but that's just my opinion.

Cut + Paste from another site:
Solid orange means your slinger is NOT connecting to the internet.
After power up:
1. Solid red - unit boots up and was programmed correctly.
2. Solid orange - unit acquired IP address from DHCP server
3. Blinking orange - unit sent and received TCP packets over the internet
4. Blinking green - unit sent and received UDP packets over the ineterned and successfully logged on to the IKS server
5. Insert into IRD. Will go solid green when communication is established with IRD.
6. If steps 1-5 work, you will get video. Otherwise, troubleshoot above.
The main problem people seem to have is steps 3,4. I suggest you change source/destination ports for your slinger and try again. If this doesn't work, your router/firewall could be blocking UDP packets. Try using a different router or manually logging into your router (if possible) and enabling UDP packets for your slinger ports.

Thanks Mark for suggestons/informatoin. I will get the network thing working but i still get ur smartcard is not valid error even though i used nagraedit 5.2 to dump married rom 102 bin file and wrote that to slinger and verified by reading that the keys are good..
when i press system info it give all zeros for smart card # so some how sliger is not seding the info to the card and eventually to the IRD... any suggestions?

Orbit, I'm having the same problem. All zeros in sys info but I think it's because the slinger is hung up. I think it's not communicating with the server. You can tell if your indicator light is not green. What color is yours? If it isn't green then you've got a problem.
hi mark,
Got a question, I follow all the steps properly as per instruction, just hold up the lan cable and power supply to the slinger, the light will go from flashing red then flashing orange then solid orange for over 5-10mins ? if i reset it couple of times then it will go from flashing red>flashing orange>solid orange>flashing red?? do you have any suggestion? I neve hook up the card side of the slinger with all these tests.

o122, if you never get the flashing green then you have network problems. Try Mili's port mapper (look in the file downloads section), otherwise you will need to find someone who can help you with your router.
Got mine working, btw. My slinger follows the sequence and I get video on most channels, but I also get freezing about once every 5 minutes, no PPV, no porn and no locals.

Not good to watch tv for sure.
