Until the router port mess is solved can't see Slinger as the answer. Been working to get a port to work for days "nothing".

D-link 614

Do you have a firewall? I needed to turn it off to have the "upnp tool" to work.
Did you DMZ the IP of the slinger ? I have a D-Link too.

Well I'm no expert also....
As you have a D-Link too, it should be similar. Login to Admin of the router (192.168.0.1) and you click the "Advanced" tab. Then, "DMZ". Put the IP of the slinger in there. Do you know the IP of your router? (The link provided by gizmolite tells you how to find out btw)
Somehow that "opens" , "free" that specific IP, it makes it visible and/or easier to access from outside (the slinger server here I guess...)
That's how I can explain it to you.
