im looking for an easy to follow Max&Mel Schematics anyone have 1 to share? 2313 and the 232
There is, or at least there was, a good breadboard max/mel design in the files section. It's Cancom's 3 chip max/mel but on a breadboard.

I remember seeing that post by dnk awhile back but forgot about it, very nice work. I've worked with the relatively new FTDI chips in the past, they worked super for a few USB ISO programmers I built...this would be ideal for running RQCS on a newer laptop...

I think thats the point of it, as serial ports are virtually non-existant and went the way of LPT. Why use 9 or 25 pins when 4 will suffice, including the power/gnd lines?
if you are good with design, and have an older maxmel, there should be no reason you can't make a serial to USB convert with the FTFI cihp rather than making a whole new board and installing... just cleaner if you do the whole thing :)

Hope i'm not hyjacking this thread .For those that don't want to build or can't build a usb to Rs-232 Interface, you can get one from danaco dot net. Works with rq-echo-client/rqcs.
Running on my dell B130 lappy as i type on a private rq-echo-client server.
I have used this adapter for everything anyone has used a regular serial port on a PC for.
If i'm breaking any rules please forgive me & delete any info not approved by this forum.
Info from danaco on this adapter below.
