If you have plans on installing homebrew channel through Twilight hack, DO NOT upgrade your wii to 4.0 this stops twilight hack at this time. The only way to install homebrew channel will be with a modchip

Wii hacking is a thing of the past as it stands now... no Boot1 on new models, IOS249 was also blocked, and also they pulled the D2x chip that all solder chips stick to. Nintendo is getting serious!

PS, the homebrew channel was NEVER installable via a modchip - and I can guarantee you it never will be. Firmware 3.2 and under suffered a signing bug, which was an exploit - used in combination with a modchip the disc would boot and via the truncha signer the wii verified the disc. This will not happen again.

If you mod your Wii with the Twilight hack PRIOR to taking 4.0- the Homebrew channel will be unaffected.

I just bought a Wii balance board for my kids and the game DEMANDS that you upgrade to 4.0 before it will play. I consulted Mr. Google...he said it was alright, I upgraded and my Homebrew Channel is unaffected. I can still play "backed up" games.

So install the Twilight BEFORE 4.0 or you will be waiting a while for the workaround!

If your system was new at 4.0 you may have other issues!

Most if not all of the Wii's produced in the past 100 days have new hardware differences that will not allow you to "roll back" the firmware to pre-4.0 condition.

exactly... This information just explains how to get HBC installed on 4.0 firmwares. You are still limited by no D2x chip, having your pre-IPL patched, and that IOS249 won't install. Either way its a start. Thank god for BannerBomb.
