Mili,

I'm sure many people are interested in your BGA reprogramming service.

Could your technician install a socket so that we may swap out the BGA chip in the future?

Also, could he return the original BGA chip he removes so that if there is a problem in the future, at least we can pop the original BGA back in and go back to subbing?

Are VIP722 and DVR625 receiver harddrives "binded" to the "TSOP" like the 501-508-510 receivers? (I know TSOP is not the term for BGA receivers, so noone needs to correct me)

I have a shed full of these receivers that everyone thought were not going to be useable and basically gave them to me.

I read somewhere that the sockets were going for around $40 with a min purchase of 25.

I think I would gladly pay the extra $$ for this service! If there are TSOP (BGA) hits in the future it will sure make fixing these a lot easier!!

Please consider this if you can source the necessary parts.

Thanks

me had sockets installed by private "modder" who said that sockets are custom made, per order; hence why they are so expensive. If rem. correctly, they were $35 / half.

remember that you have buy 3 socket pieces. One female to go on the ird, and also, 2 males; one for each of the bga chips. One male socket on the replacement bga chip and the other on the original. After all, if you do decide to switch back to orig. config. in the future, you will HAVE TO have a male socket on the orig. chip or its useless...just think about it and it will make sense.

p.s. dont' bother PM'ing to ask who modded my ird; I will simply delete it.

No sorry guys there is no such option and I don't think it will ever be needed either.
