I got a trusty 510 which has served forever flawlessly but now im thinking of goin with an HD box with a slinger. I was thinking about the vip722 but it would really suck if I had to chip and rechip again at some point (read about this but not quite sure if I would need to do with a slinger setup). Please chime in on the best options for HD and DVR.

Yeah, the old 510 fleet here has been great, too.
But if HD and DVR is your desire, then the 622/722 is the way to go.
As for the chip/rechip thing - it's a sign of the times my friend. That's why I learned how to do my own BGA soldering. I sacrificed some 311's in the process. But a 322 worked great after my first sucess. It's not an easy task though for sure.

I love the 510 too. I will go slinger, but will test it on 510 first before modding my 722. Do not get a 622. Some peeps will tell you they are the same as 722 except for hard drive, but they are not. 622 is a POS that has a very high failure rate.Good luck.

of course I want to test on my 510 but truth be told hard to resist HD and Dual tuner options
