Is a bell 6000 receiver capable of receiving bell non high definition channels? I would like to get the IRD and Box keys from my sub 2700 and flash them to the 6000 which would marry the 2700 card to the 6000 but not sure if the 6000 would still get my sub channels. thanks -Ollie

If the Bell 6000 is the same as a DN 6000...then I don't think you would get HD channels (no HD tiers on your sub). But you should be able to get teh SD channels.
More important....And Skinerd would probably need to chime in on this...I'm not sure a model 6000 can run DT08 (the 2700 runs on DT08 rather than SKs).

Thanks Zerokill. I just tagged both the 2700 and the 6000 and flashed the 6000 with the 2700 subbed info. On the 6000 the system info matches that of the 2700 but I only get the info channel 198 and the rest are 005 nag. I put the card back in the 2700 and get all my subbed channels. I know high def will not work but thought that I may have gotten the non high def ones. Anyone else have any suggestions or is it because bell discontinued support for the 6000 that it now wont get any of the non high def channels. Thanks-Ollie

Does 811 receiver capable of receiving HD channels?
The Dish 811 is a MPEG-2 High Definition Dish Network satellite receiver with intergratred HDTV off-air tuner .
Dish Network currently broadcasts only in MPEG-4. So no.

I have re-read the above 3X and still don't get it. You're Subbed, so just call Tech Support, and ask. I know nothing about the 6000, but why switch if you're only SD?
What's the big deal between a 2700 and 6000 if you're Subbed and SD only??

I'm having trouble with the 2700 heating up and cutting out then when it cools it's ok for about an hour then cuts out again. I had the 6000 given to me and wanted to use it to replace the 2700. Tech support knows from their records that I only have the 2700 and would question how I expected the 6000 to work with the 2700 card and I wouldn't want to tell them about the reflashing.

Both receivers are dt08 so the answer is yes.
Just jtag your 2700 and get the box keys and receivier id
jtag your 6000 and read your 2 tsops. (assuming the tsop never been modded before)
use flashedit and change the box keys and reciever id save the tsops.and write the new tsops to 6000 (read one byte of the eeprom to unlock unit before attempting to write to tsop)
Erase 1st tsop 3 times and write saved tsop. Repeat for 2nd tsop.
put your card in and you should be good to go. its now cloned.

Thanks xtwister but that is what I did in post 3 and now the 6000 is married to the card that was in the 2700. I found out that because Bell discontinued the support for the 6000, it will only receive the information channel and nothing else even though the boxkeys and ird match the 2700. I have since picked up a 3100 and cloned it, now I can junk the 2700. Thanks to all that helped

The 6000 still works on Bell and receives HD. I am using one as we speak!!!
Plus I recently found out that you will receive the HD channels.
Bell tiers already include HD tiers even on a basic sub. So if you get the movie network on
your sub in SD then you will receive it in HD also
Bell only charges you for HD service if they know you are using a hd receiver!
So with your 2700 (which is on your account they do not know you have the 6000) you'll get HD channels for free!!
So you should try and get your 6k cloned properly and at firmware E635, also an HD tv then you'll have a perk.
If your tv isnt hd then dont bother. Just use your 3100

Thanks xtwister, now you have my interest tweeked again. I reflashed the 6k and the ird and boxkeys verified the same as my subbed 2700. The signal strength on the 6k is 98 with a single lnb at sat 91and software e635. On the 6k I get the the info channel and the rest of the subbed standard channels are 005 nag. My tv in not HD, any suggestions as I must be doing something wrong with the 6k because when I did the 3100 it gets everything that the 2700 does. thanks ----------Ollie

91 doesn't have any HD on it. 82 has all the HD.
The 6000 is a funny animal...a cross between Legacy receivers and the "newer" receivers. You are missing something in the flash.

Take off the cover and blow out the dust, put some heat conductive paste on a butterfly heatsink and attach it to the TO2 5VDC rectifier. That will solve your problems, also make sure nothing (vcr, dvd) is sitting atop the IRD. That will solve your problems, but if the above sounds like Greek to you, forget it.

Thanks to Xtwister and Zerokill for making me stick with the 6000. I must have not erased the flashes completely, this time I erase both u41 and u45, 3 times then reflashed and it works perfect now. Rg6a thank you for pointing out the dust and about heat sink the 5vdc rectifier. I have looked on the schematic and on the board and having trouble locating TO2 rectifier. I can find the 5vdc power supply off the T5001 transformer and where it goes thru chokes L5001 and L5002. Could you please give me a hint where it's located on the board.
Thanks again for the great help from all of you--Ollie

Ollie - glad you got it working.. now point your dish to 82 and hook up an hdtv and you'll be impressed.. I dont watch any sd channels myself.
hman - you only use the boxkeys and ird number from the 2700 tsop, not the actual tsop.

Dish Network currently broadcasts only in MPEG-4. So no.
I really can't understand the buzz about Sat. HD. It's 720 Not 1080!!
I'm getting almost 600 lines using the S-Video input on my S*ny tv.
None of the providers are broadcasting in ten eighty, yet.

720p and 1080i are the same.
1080p is even better.
720p is way better than SD (your svideo input)
720p is way better than dvd (480p)
720p is way better than upconverting dvd. (480p source digitally upscaled to 1080i)
Regular tv is 480i
Digital tv is 480p (same as dvd)
If you sony is not hdtv then its irrelevant because its capable of viewing hd anyways.
If your sony is hdtv then you are not using the tv the way it is designed for
and missing out.

Here is what I did
Open J Keys
Jtag the 2700 and get the IRD and Box Keys
Jtag the 6000 and save flash 1Hi (U45) then save flash 2 lo (U41)
Open flashedit and enter flash 1 HI (U45) and flash 2 lo (U41)
Change the IRD and Box Keys to match the ones from the 2700 and save
Make a virgin eeprom from the newly saved flashes
Back to J Keys and write the virgin eeprom
Erase flash 2 lo (U41) sector 7FE00000 ---change it in the single location programming address
Erase flash 1 Hi (U45) sector sector 7FC00000---change it in the single location programming address
Program flash 2 lo (U41) use the newly saved flash with the 2700 info, change sector to 7FE00000
Program flash 1 hi (U45) use the newly saved flash with the 2700 info, change sector to 7FC00000
It takes about 7 min to write the flashes.
Google for Wanna_Be's Guide to Jtagging a 6ooo IRD version 4 August 2006 that's what I used it has picture of each step and is very easy to follow
Hope this helps-----Ollie
