I currently live about 100 miles away from LA. I am a big time dodger fan but in my area it gets black out and my market they offers sd locals only. Can I give dish a bogus address or zip code in order to get LA locals and watch the dodgers games or any suggestions.

those channels are spot beamed so either way you'll still be blacked out

Not necessarily. I live more than 150 miles from Dallas/Fort Worth and Sherman, Texas, yet I am still in the spotbeam "footprints" for those locals. The best way to see if you are in the L.A. "footprint" is to contact a neighbor with an FTA and check to make sure that they receive the locals of which you speak.

If you are in the "footprint", then find a friend with a address in L.A. and use his address. Just giving Dish a fake address will sooner or later be bad for you. (If they get a bill or sendout returned or "bounced back"). Another option is to get a prepaid DishNow receiver...those you CAN use a fake address because they never send you anything.

LA is not spotbeamed and even is it was 100 miles is not enough to miss the spotbeam.

Dish does not control out of market locals by law. A company called "All American Direct" handles it. Fuck around on there website at "Allamericandirect.com" running zipcodes until you find a city you can subscride to use and get LA locals. You can call them at 888-575-3474 but I'd play on the site first.

Dishnow prepaid does not allow locals period.

LA is the West network and is not spotbeamed. Ny is your east network also not spotbeamed. Flip to your230 area. 232 KTLA for example. Spotbeamed so well I am watching it 1500 miles away from LA right now as I type. I do see LA locals are going N3 June 4th.

You're right Birdie...I must be grandfathered or something...still getting my locals AND Regional Sports (which I understand DishNow does not allow also).

I better not let my receiver lapse!!!!

No, SF is the West network that isn't spotbeamed. Only KTLA (super station) in LA is CONUS.

HTH.

I got one of friend's address so I don't get blackouts in dodgers games and receive LA locals. Also if I connect my ethernet cable to the receiver can my receiver get trace from what house it is coming from. The reason I want to do that so I can access the remote from a computer to set timers or uses the sling features later on.
