First let me take the time to say thanks you for reading and reponding to this post if you can help. I'm new to all this and have learned alot, but need some help getting some things clairifed. I'm going to try and "convert" some of the lingo I've heard used for new people who have no idea what the key lingo words are. Once I have mastered this "hobby" I will try to write a white-paper that explains all of this in a much simpler form. I've read this enitre website and all the "how-to's" but I'm still a little confused. Maybe a paper written by a newbie for newbies will help future newbies. So with that said, if anything I "convert" is wrong PLEASE correct me with a post.

NEWBIES:
Please scroll to the bottom of this post and read the Lingo Definitions FIRST so you can understand the lingo used in this post and in this "hobby".

My Equipment:
(1) HDTV Model 6000U with a ROM 10 (AA-03) REVA21
(2) PVR Model 501 with ROM10 (AA-03) REVA21
(1) JVC WebTV PVR Model TU7200 with ROM 3 (A2012) REV381
(1) Model 2700 with ROM 3 (A2012) REV381

(1) Xtreme Pro Programmer
(1) Digital Lock

All CAM's have been in the stream within the last week (Nov 18th 2003). All CAM's have the backdoor locked.

My Questions:

1) I've seen a solution called ROM X which says it can not be stream locked nor can it be REV updated by DishNet. Cost is about $89 to $149 per card. Is this a good solution? Can it be blocked or shutdown?

2) I've seen another solution called DSSRev which claims that all you have to do is use your current working CAM with it and all channels are opened. Is this a good solution? If I cancel my subsciption to DishNet, will this card continue to work? Can it be blocked or shutdown?

3) I've seen another solution called Atmega 128, is this a good solution still? I've noticed a couple version of the Atmega solution, some claim to work with more receiver's then the 128. Is there any advantage to using the 128 still?

4) Of all the solutions ROM X, DSSRev, and Atmega which one is the best? Which one will stay up the longest? Do all of them require a subscription to some type of "script" service to keep them working? Does one solution allow for getting more channels then another?

5) Can any of the CAMS (ROM 10 or ROM3) be unlocked without being sent out to some distand land were I may never see them again. If they can not be unlocked by me now, will it be possbible to unlock them in the future? Can I FORCE my cards to a lower software rev without them being unlocked?

Again thanks for taking the time to answer these questions.
