has anyone looked into (justintv) website ..it claims to broadcast live tv....I have seen cartoons and some movies but am wondering if these are basic or premium channels and from where....the guy who led me here said he had seen some ppv boxing matches on here but I have failed to see anything close to it

justin.tv shows alot of different things, including PPV sporting events. Atleast until they catch it, then they remove it, then another one pops up on one of their other channels. There are quite a few sites similar to this, but if you dont like very grainy, constantly freezing boxing/ufc, then you better steer clear of any of these sites.

there are couple of stream tv sites out there ive used them and they work, but they might freeze and quality is like my old colecovision but its still watchable, here is a tip log on early before the fight that way it wont freeze as much. i watched the delahoya vs paquia fight like that cause my fta and 102 went out, in all its a good back up

I am sure the future of TV is over IP. As bandwidth grows they will be able to stream better and better quality picture.
The current distribution model where you need to use billion dollar satellites is soon to go extinct.

I don't agree, the Military and other Govt'. Agencies will never totally rely on 100% land based transmission delivery, just too easy to take out.

About eight years ago, thousands upon thousands of miles of fibre was installed and about 40% of it is still Dark. Cable and DSL made it too expensive for consumer use, FIOS in selected areas is bringing fibre to the gray box on the side of peoples homes (demarcation point).

This is the fat pipe scenario, internet/telephone/tv and next is surveillance. Yup, want to see what your babysitter or kids are doing, when out for the night or the office, the cottage or lake home as it's called, no problem and can do it from your cellphone.

So, I believe for Government, both will be used and always an available failsafe.

I can't count how many times a local contractor is digging and cuts a cable and 30,000 business or people have no functioning landline for eight hours!

rg6a, I think you are missing a vital point here.
with 3G+/HSPA mobile networks growing- wires will be a thing of the past too... HSPA can put out 15Mbps, thats faster than MOST cable connections, and the upstream is better too.

Mili is correct. when these satellies start to fall its not really worth it to bother repairing them when a better, cheaper, easier, more secure method is available to 70% of the consumer base. The USA and UK is at least 40-50% full digital coverage? striving for 100? won't take long to move it to 75% where mass consumption is possible. Cells only really became popular and affordable what, 10 years ago?

Satellites are popular with remote locations.. like most people can't get cable TV or even landline telephone at some of their cottages. Most are more likely to get cell phone coverage tho.

1tvpc.com is not free and you have to install a software in your computer most of them are packed with trackers and trojans, justintv is free but both have bad video quality .

One day, there will not be PPV. everything will be one click away.
use your remote or mouse and order instantly any movie, youtube clip or commercial you want.

and fonnzie thought hitting the jukebox and getting a free play was way cool :)
boy we came a long way.

it will be like sunglasses, and ear buds and look feel and sound like a Imax theater.
