This question has probably been answered before, but I can't seem to find it.

I have been testing BEV on a 2700 using an avr card for the past year, and am looking to try some other things, but don't want to go spending money helter skelter without getting some better idea of which direction to go...

1) Can you convert a BEV 2700 to receive DISHNETWORK?

2) If one was to purchase a DISHNETWORK receiver which model is best to test with?

3) What is a good method of testing on the DISHNETWORK? I read alot about ROM3, ROM10 etc... i assume this is a programmable card. Is this the best to be working with?

4) What kind of dish is DISHNETWORK using currently, as I understand they receive off of two different sats?

5) Is it imparitive if operating with a programmable card that there is a digital lock installed too? What does the digital lock do?

Any suggestion of good sites to purchase gear from for DISHNETWORK stuff would be good too....

1) Yes. You can easily convert a BEV 2700 to Dish.

2) The 2700 is in fact the best to use for testing BEV or Dish.

3) Emulation & plastic (ROM) are the most reliable. But other types are also working ie:Atmega

4) The BEV dish is exactly the the same type used for Dish and even DTV. The LNB's are all compatible as well. Actually, Dish have more than 2 sats. But the most popular are 110 & 119.

5) No. D/lock's prevent the sat provider's ECM signal from reaching and writing to your IRD's TSOP.

Thanks for the Reply Chapster99

So, then the pics i have seen of the DISHNETWORK dish that has two seperate LNBs pointed in different directions isn't needed? If you point at one dish or the other... do you still get all the programming???

Yes. If you point to 110, you'll get all channels available from that bird. Ditto for any other bird...
