This error could mean a number of things...
First off, go to system info screen (menu, 6, 1, 3) and check if your location ID is Ok. If you see 00000001, this means you've been hit. Next I would verify the cables ie: 'Satellite in' & 'Out to TV' are not reversed. If you have another IRD, plug it to that cable, check signal strength. If you've recently changed the cable connector (the ones that screw into your IRD), you may have not left enough of the ground wire (meshed twine). You can also try a hard reset.
Menu
6
3
info
right arrow >>
left arrow <<
The last 3 (info, >>, <<) need to be pressed within 4 seconds. If done correctly, you'll be in the 'Memory Dump'. If so, now press 'TV/VIDEO'. You should now see a 'Non volitile corrupt' msg. Now unplug IRD for 10 secs, then replug.

i have a problem with a 3900 p230 with rom3 and 4900 and it gives me MSG 015 (acquiring satellite signal
satellite: 119
transponder: 11
progress: 2 of 5)
and stays like that forever.
unplug and hook up another box like a 301.10 which does the same process and comes on in seconds
anyone know how to fix this?i tried the reboot and came back the same way.

Take a look at the software version in system info screen. Is there an '-F' at the end? If so, the eeprom is flagged. You'll need to reflash the eeprom .bin file.

No f'in software? No wonder it won't work! LOL....
You say you get this on both 3900 & 4900? Try erasing SA30 (same for both models) and re-stream.

chillwill, perhaps it's not the rcv'r. Try cleaning your ROM3 and reprogramming. Use a known working ROM3 image. Lemme know after that.

Has anyone done a check switch in the setup menu on these systems. When hit with a serious error nag on this model it wipes the eeprom. So any settings like what switch you have are no longer there. I would recommend also setting the download setting to do not without my permission.

You say the 301 IRD works fine so this makes me believe your using a DisPro LNB on the satellite dish. If this is the case, you must use a DishPro adapter for the 2700/3900 IRD to use that same DishPro LNB
Hope this helps!
i always check switch and it still stuck

i had this problem on my 3900. i used the rtm tier file that had all the PPV's as individual channels to chose from. I unchecked all those PPV's and it no longer did that. I just made a new ppv string taht works and it runs through the aquiring signal progress with no problems...hope this helps
