Hey guys, I followed dssmili's guide to the nozkt mod to a T, but I can't seem to finish my mod up on the unit. I go through every step just fine until I get to the "Erase Flash" part. After clicking "Erase", I get the error msg "Error detected erasing flash." If I try to program my new flash file, I get write error at 50000000.

What have I done wrong, or what is causing this problem? Thanks alot guys,

Suburbia

I can't help you with your problem but I had a similar one. I had a single chip drd420 that would indicate it erased the flash ok, but when I tried to write the new bin it would say the flash was not totally erased. After several tries I went ahead and re-flashed the chip with the new single winked bin and the receiver works fine. Sometimes it seems I need to do a certain step several times before it takes on certain receivers. Hope you sort yours out

did u do the base addresses in development panel? if your JTAG wires are over 12 inches maybe you should trim it down. if you get a time out error, unplug the IRD for 3, plug it back in a hit OK button within 3. that should reboot the IRD and you can make another attempt. post your results.

Make sure of single or dual chip settings.....if you have a single chip you have to specify the base address, dual chip is automatic.....
Then I would do the trace cut and apply 5v to FP, eliminate the dev panel routine.......try again.....

Skinerd, I have now messed up 2 420 receivers trying to get this working; I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, as I have done many mods before, sure its something silly Im overlooking, but I am attaching jumpers correctly, and Im using a converted J-31, so Im sure its buffered as well, basically I can read and erase the chip, although once I have done a full erase, the probs start. I am still able to read any part of the chip, but when I try to write the nozkt image, or if I try to do a full erase again, I get "Error Detected", and the progress bar doesnt go past 0%, any help AT ALL FROM ANYONE is greatly appreciated guys!

Thanks, Suburbia

If you have done 420's before with success, I suspect the ones you have now are a bit more sensitive, maybe the jtag wires are too long, I have seen that a few times and had the guy shorten his wires and it took off and worked fine.....some 420's seem more sensitive than others for some reason. I have noticed that the ST5508 chips that have FRANCE on them seem to be the worst ones...

double check all your connections. I have found that a bad ground or +5v connection will cause errors.
