HR23 and Single LNB 18" dish?

Thinking of getting a HR23 but haven't made the big leap to HD yet. (Still struggling to keep the checkbook balanced)
My thinking is I get the latest HD23 and just utilize it for SD until my big bonus check arrives.....:rolleyes: I still have the old single LNB Dave dish on the pole pointed at 101 in the back 40 leftover from those testing days. Anybody know if that IRD be ok with the single 18" lnb dish?
At least that way it will motivate me to go HD, im just worried that I will watch too much hockey - games are sweet in 1080.

you can have hd receiver with sat 101, but wont get hd programming.. but it would work. when you upgrade your dish setup/tv. then you can enjoy.

That is exactly what i needed to hear, So when im ready with that new 60" monitor, HD dish, and pull another cable line - I should be good to go.

My uncles best friends veterinarians satellite installer dude is working on getting me an HR23 receiver, I hope the numbers are good.
