WD40 will clean all the sticky crap off and then use Windex ...
None of these are related to Winex ! ;)

Also make sure the chip is dry before you stick it in a programer or the receiver ...

The safest thing to use, in my opinion, is that foamy glass cleaner; the environmentally unsound stuff that comes in the aerosol bottle. Everything else has too much water in it or is too much of a solvent. It says "Never submerge card in liquid or use cleaning fluids on it" because if you use something that acts as a solvent, you could loose the writing on the card or worse.

Well like I and JT said , don't soak the chip but if it needs to be cleaned it needs to be cleaned ... I have done it that way and all was fine ...
I remember years ago when guys said don't let the card get cold , well when there was a hit a guy with a little café did cards and would drop them off in the peoples mail boxes , meanwhile it was minus 15 outside ...

You can't use a card that is full of guck so you will have to do something .... Just make sure it is clean and dry before you use it ...

Hi DonkeyPunch, 4x4 and JT have given you some very good advice. water is not your friend here.
Myself, I try to never use anything with water in it. Years ago, I learned that isopropyl alcohol was one of the better things to clean with and it also helps to dissipate any water. Isopropyl alcohol is heavier than water, so it is often used with swimmers who get water in there ears, so that water floats to the top and evaporates quicker. Isopropyl alcohol is clear, colorless, flammable, mobile liquid, (CH3)2CHOH, used in antifreeze compounds, in lotions and cosmetics, and as a solvent for gums, shellac, and essential oils. So that is my gunky card clearer.

I also use a #2 eraser to help clean my cards. I've used #2 soft erasers for cleaning oxidation from computer cards for years. They are dry and you can see clearly your card is clean when you are done. Cold is your friend if their are any cracks in your chips structure.

Their are little tiny holes in your cards chip edges, so be very careful with any product you use that has water in it.

Thanx for all the help guys .

I have a VERY VERY clean and GOOD SHAPE ...P3 card that does absolutely NOTHING for me b/c it is looped. I can't unloop it for over a year. Let me know if you want to exchange it. You can have a clean card and I can have a working card, we'll be both ...happy.

Merry X-mas.
