In the news...
2.06 soon and NHL for dish network too!
We will come out with version 2.06 on weekend or early next week. System extremely stable now if configuration is proper of routers and ISP don't block or drop packet you see no freeze. We listen to you and will ad NHL hockey ball on dish network this weekend channels 625-639. {cut n pasted from CC}

No chance for PPV in my opinion and there are a ton of US networks on Bell with a Slinger.

How about 730 and Golf HD on Bell? Then Bell will be all you need.

Slinger is working fine. What do you mean by "shaky"?

Slinger 2.06
You folks seem to feel slinger is working just fine. Do you read the the forum? This forum has so many connection problems versus other IKS solutions. Mine works great except I have to reboot after not watching for 7 hours, or the sudden no conection now and then. The freezing during peak viewing hours sunday during NFL, No NHL on BEV. Do I need to list anymore? Read you banner your advertising. I like the slinger, it has potential. Read the first post by the moderator Lefty. He admits there is problems.

We only watch channel 575 which is Indian comedy channel and can't get 10 minutes of watching. It freezes every 10 minutes for 10 to 30 seconds. Is it normal? If you remember i went out puchased modem and Linksys router and configured as per your and Milli's instructions. Worked ok for a while after 2.05 was released but in the past 2 weeks its being freezing like crazy. Is it time to reload?

I have never had to reboot for any connection issue and to be honest this is the first I have heard anyone mention it.

I have to agree with Bandit5906, the problems I have had are all on my end. I have to switch from a 615 to the old 604 modem once in a while since the 615 locks everything out (?) periodically. Or my SP is reworking his connections or replacing cable. No reboots, very little freezing, and all the channels my poor old and tired 2700 will allow. But that said I'm already making plans to go to a sports bar for the Manny Paquio fight. Thats all I miss!!

[QUOTE=Bandit5906;529864]I have never (read that never) had connection problems unless the Slinger server was having service work done on it and then it was for a very short period of time. Also I have never seen any difference in freezing issues during a particular time or day/night. I have seen other posts which claim issues during "peak" times, but I have never seen them here.
Where is here is that east ,west ,central ,north or south, I would think location has a lot to do with freezing and who is the provider. ![]() |

No! Just saying "no"! I don't see where location has anything to do with service. I wonder what else it could be? Could it ?....naw!

Slinger hasn't proved that to many people, and is still missing a key software feature - sever mode. It is getting better, far from an abandoned project but no wheres near complete. Im told in the past 2 weeks bev got a hell of a lot better. At least connect after 2-3 resets now instead of 20-30, and channels tune in within 15 sec instead of red flashes for a few min... resume usually works, still needs a hard reset about once a day. Guess your location is one factor, what you are connecting to is another, and what receiver equipment its used on is likely another. |

The cost for the available viewing with the Slinger would be more like $150.00 a month depending on your viewing of the family channels.
Location is not an issue. Time of day/day of the week is not an issue. What you are connecting to is not an issue. Equipment used may not be an issue. The way equipment is configured is an issue. Next?

Seeing we have no idea if the server differs for SD/HD boxes, dual tuners, or channel watched I can only deduce load on the server won't let us get what we need quick enough sometimes. You would think those with dual tuner boxes would require double the data rate those with single tuner boxes would need, as its essentially 2 different decrypts happening as 2 CW are needed for each tuned channel.
Although the connection can access and ping all other websites in 20ms the slinger server takes over 200ms at these times.. but its the equipment and configuration? when 30 min ago it was working perfect? or are you gonna say that every day, several times a day, theres maintenance being done? Many others are in this boat, I guess it could be that 5000kbps isn't fast enough for 4 bytes to get through every 5 seconds.. Guess its possible the line the server is setup on, or the feed to the server gets congested too, HK is quite a few hr ahead of NA so it would explain why the disconnects are happening at weird hours. |

What is your association with the slinger manufacturer? There must be some connection to justify your repeated and often unrepresentative reports about the slinger. Location can play a part in performance. Time of day usually relates to performance. The internet provider plays a huge roll in stability (according to many of your previous posts) There is no way for you to know the server status end unless you're associated with managing that server. Equipment used is an issue. Dual, VIP tuners etc. do not all perform equally well. Work needs done on the handshake for some of these models. Router/slinger configuration of course plays and issue. This is the only true statement you made in the post I quoted. Next? Maybe we could get Bandit to stop kissing ass so eagerly and be a bit more realistic and honest about the product? The honest portrayal of the slinger is that it is a good product and well worth the money. Service has been very good lately and the down times are generally less than a few hours if they are even that long. There have only been a few days in the last few months that the slinger has been down completely. This should be more than acceptable to users with an understanding of what this product is doing for the user. Stability is well within range to make the product worth purchasing. It will pay for itself in less than two months of use. What chapps me is how a few users continually place blame for issues that might be going on with the slinger on the end user when many times there actually are server issues going on. These few users deny these issues with nearly 100% consistancy and it's not fair to the end user to be told the issue is on their end when it is not. Bandit is one of the users that will nearly always report things are running perfectly even if they are not. Last edited by Punked; 2 Weeks Ago at 05:25 PM.. |

What Lefty posted was a C&P of a post from the Slinger people.
