1. Does this dreambox use a card, and if yes, does it come with the IRD?
2. Does it connect to a phone line?

1.Can you explain how the box is connected to the computer to take the updates?
2.Is it true that the only time you have to update the box, is when the updates are changed ?

Great to see you got it working right away. Romcode is great but unfortunately I don't think I will be going that route. I to had a lifetime membership with romcode before but I was hoping they were going to do something with a regular Dish or Bev IRD not FTA.

They would have to do another box if they are going to do HiDef. If they do then maybe I would reconsider. Good Luck!

For now they only support the DB500S IRDs (in the store) but they will have HD on CW IRDs next month.
Please report feedback on the operations as I myself am not testing it yet.

I don't want to change the subject but would the CW 4000 hd be compatible with the Dish switches currenty used with my 622 or do I have to have the diseqc switches.

Took about a week for mine to come in The dreambox that is, the sub itself was almost instant. No, it does not have locals or PPV, at this point anyway. Other than like 5 or 6 porn channels and a UFC events. You kinda choose what channels you want, by the package you purchase. You still have to use a router and a connection.

The ROMCODE Dreambox is kid of like a hybrid between Slinger and an FTA.
No PPVs (other than the UFC events - if you pay extra)
No Porn (unless you pay extra)
No Locals (the same with ANY IKS solution)

The quality is reported to be good (my brother-in-law has this setup).
Keep in mind that there is no drain on the IKS server yet...not many devices out there.

I would also be VERY interested in a CW (I imagine you are meaning CaptiveWorks FTA boxes) High-Def solution. I would have to see how much the "sub" would be and if they would charge extra for the HD channels...but the quality out of a CW HD box is very good.

VOD PPV is open on Romcode and Detroit locals also.

Of course it is IKS but using TCP so no router programming is needed. PPV is VOD PPV not ALL PPV same as on a Dishnet PVR.
You want no routers and no programming and plug and play go subscribe and pay $400 a month.

It is not a wishing contest really. They said they got Detroit locals for now. I am sure if they get more subs in different areas they will add those locals as well. The only way they can add Buffalo or any other locals is if they manage to get a subscription in that area to share out.

if your receiver has a rolling screen its because the setup is using the PAL image... PAL is what they use in europe... to stop the scrolling just press right arrow on remote until you see it stop then save and exit, you will then be using the NTCS image...

or try the following;

press menu then 6,3,2...
press down arrow twice...
press right arrow 3 times...
press green button...
that should put you in NTSC mode and the scrolling should stop...
