DOS Cemu
Hi
I'm attempting Bev Cemu DOS on a P133 from the floopy drive with a DE GOLD LOGGER board with Bev380.bin. Everything seems to be running fine then I get [BOXKEY: 999999999] on the monitor after about 1/2 hour and the TV goes black....any ideas? Thanks cancom |

If your are running CEMU V2 you have two choices to prevent box key problem .
1) apply CEMU Temp Fix.I recommend 2) Change your bin to 381. Cam ID is critical . Try S0451xxx |

Cemu
Thanks bbad
I tried ChinamanRamCemu V3 and that solved it. I also added a bit to the bootdisk so it now plays a tune when it is ready for the IRD to be plugged in. No need for a monitor either now. cancom |

Cancom, how does Chinaman compare to cemudos? I know that on dish cemu rocks even on a 66mhz...very cool.

Hi dbDan
I like the Chinaman version....especially after I added a sound file to it. It all runs on my ancient hard driveless P75, boots off a 1.44 floppy disk and plays a tune when its time to plug in the receiver. Never misses a beat either. The max&mel 2313/232 built-in emu is another one I'd highly recommend. Seems pogrammable locks are going to be the only way to go soon as well. Time to draft up a max&mel with the programmable lock on the same board! cancom |

Like the idea of the tune..
Was just curious of your comparison thoughts between the two. Saw a cemudos running on a 66mhz with no hard drive using a 1489a/2313 emu board. Locks? Thought that was for the weak at heart or those scared of jtags... I guess I'll take a peek at the Chinaman. |

Hi dbDan
Cemu vs Chinaman: The two are almost identical. Chinaman is actually a modified version of Cemu....just has a few bells and whistles. Now with the added sound there is no need for that monitor either. LOCKS: "Thought that was for the weak at heart or those scared of jtags... " Nah! locks are for those who don't feel it is worth their time to flash more than once a lifetime.... Actually if you have a PVR it is the only way to keep your recordings. JTAGS: I hate loose connections and pogo pins are no exception. If I have an IRD open to perform a max & mel installation or lock, it automatically gets a hardwired JTAG. I use a RJ-12 6 conductor modular phone jack out the back of the chassis & connected to the JTAG pads. Cheap and simple.... 25 cents for the modular jack, 1 cent for a dab of glue stik and 9 cents for the cable. cancom |

Need help. Am new to Charlie. Have EMU'd HU for long time. Have been searching this site in vain for complete "how to" EMU Charlie. Can you point me in the right direction? Want to read before I ask the unavoidable dumb questions. Thanks for your help.

Sheepdog I don't think there is a complete comprehensive guide out there, the situation is just too fluid right now. I am in the same boat as you. chinaman's cemu seems the nearest to pay dirt for me, but I cannot get the edits (ird, bxkeys, cam) to stay in the configure information. It says when it boots up th hit cntrl b but that seems to haqve no effect. Keep reading as I will and we will figure something out. If I can get something solid, I'll help you out, that's the way I've always done it. I don't think that the max232 emu board for dave is going to cut it, the freq is different. I have a plat 3m emu board, I believe that will work.
