proxie for dail up

has anyone had a GOOD experiance using one of these internet speed dail up faster web browsing services with a proxie.
its all I can do to get 28bps out here in the sticks.
do these modem boosters and dail up boosters work or is it bullshit marketing scam?

I don't think I had a "proxie" ... but I did try a "dial up" program that was supposed to increase my "surfing speed". I didn't notice any difference.

We're like you ... I'm lucky if I can log on at 36 bps ... most of the time it's around 26.4 or 28.8. No cable or DSL in the country!

I figure when you're as slow as that ... even if something were to be twice as fast ... it still wouldn't seem fast. I'm sure you know what I mean.

I'm in Canada ... and so far we haven't got any of the "proxy" connections ... at least not in my area ... so I can't help you there.
