94 F150xlt 300 six problem

Yeh, I know, "It's a ford".
I figured since mine is 3 years newer than Mili's I might as well fix the thing.

Runs fine, Mileage about 10-12, Little low, But it has a BAD Dead spot at about 56 to 62 MPH, Like you are turning the key off and on. My guess is the TPS sensor on the air valvebody. What do you people think>?????

Starts, Idles, Burns tires all that fine, Well when the fricking lugnuts stay on at least, Darn 2 recalls and lugs still came off last week.

just a couple of questions (as the old farm doc said) does this problem happen under full
throttle or partial (light)throttle.
You may want to try running with a fuel pressure guage taped to the windsheild to see
what's happening to the fuel press and eliminate that as a problem source.I believe
there'a shreider valve on the fuel rail you can hook into.

also wiggle test the wires in the engine compartment, always start with the basics!!!
another small quick test - tap on side of distributor with a handle of a screwdriver , theres a possibility the pickup coil and stator are weak...

It is fine under light or full throttle, It just does it at those speeds maintaining them, A little less or more throttle and its fine. Peeps riding with me think I am nutes cause down to 55 up to 65 and so LOL! Keeps it from cutting out though. This was a fleet vehical and was run about 200k miles at these speeds, So that was kinda leaning me to think that sensor was worn at that throttle position giving the computer errectic readings. I should try unplugging the sensor and see what happens, Not sure on this year but a few years earlier they would run without it, Just poor mpg and cannot stomp on it as it acts like the old carb days with a bad accelerator pump then, But can see if the problem dissapears?????

It has dual tanks with two fuel pumps, Does the same on either tank. Hmm..

The tps can be tested with an ohm meter.check center pin on sensor (disconnected)
to each outside pin.Resistance should rise SMOOTHLY with no spikes or drop-offs
as the throttle is moved SLOWLY from idle to full (engine off-key off).Is the service
engine soon light on?

Good idea. I need a break from vid mods here so I'll grab the meter and check that.
The Service engine light is not on, Only the normal when the key is first turned on before starting.

Thanks Wrench47, I'll meter that and let you know what I find.

Metered it and about 1/3rd position it jumped all over. Bought a new one and truck runs perfect.
Thanks 1438 and Wrench
