Is the Blackbird a good buy?

I have seen several post for this blackbird receiver, and the other silver bullet as well. I'm aware the there was some new software update for the blackbird to allow it to function again.

I'm really wondering if this is a good buy, or is these receiver really unstable. How does one go about fixing them anyways?

Do i need a jtag as i hear they need to have their keys updated frequently. How does it work?

I know what they say, "if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is."

I have a dish 2700 right now, but the thought of running 2 systems simultaneously sounds good too. Just want to know if i'd be wasting my cash.

What i'm gathering from the More informed members is that the BB and silver bullet are over priced FTA recievers get a pansat or fortec lifetime and flash it your self for half the price of those other models.

can you use the blackbird receiver alongwith your DTV receivers with the same dish to receive both dishnet programming and DTV programming?

If you're referring to DirekTV, NO. The Blackbird and Fortec, Pansat can get both Dish and Bell at the same time. DTV is not available with FTA.

Thanks dtvnewbie. I understand that the blackbird can only receive dish and bell. I am being creative. I would like to keep my subscription to dave but test the blackbird with one line from the oval dish to the blackbird and the other trhee lines to DTV receivers.
