GET this.

My buddy, tells me a couple of weeks ago he's gonna get BEV. He's gonna go legit though...no farting around hacking. Just pay the money and that's it. So he goes to Rat Shack (We're in Canada) and he arranges with this fine authorized BEV dealer to do the entire thing....installation that is.

"Will the guy who comes out know what he's doing" my buddy asks the courteous and well groomed Rat Shack employee. "OH YES" the courteous and well groomed Rat Shack employee proclaims. Now this is the first funny part "OUR installers are all FACTORY TRAINED AND CERTIFIED!" the courteous and well groomed Rat Shack employee proudly announces.

So a few days later, the FACTORY TRAINED AND CERTIFIED installer comes out, and 4 hours later, it's all set up. The FACTORY TRAINED AND CERTIFIED installer asks to use the phone and the next thing you know, my buddies kids are watching cartoons....for about 45 minutes, and then it all stops working.

My buddy makes a phone call to BEV, and they tell him he'll need to get the installer back. So he calls me instead. I go over there, and there seems to be no signal. A quick look at the back of the IRD reveals that the RG59????? cable is in fact connected to the IRD. So, (and this is the second funny part) we go outside...and what do we find.....the dish is hanging from the RG59 about 3 feet off the ground. One of the three inch drywall screws that the FACTORY TRAINED AND CERTIFIED installer used to stick the dish to the stucco is still in the mounting bracket, and the other one cannot be found...Yesssss he used two whole screws, and argueably the wrong ones at that. Well, we stuck the dish to his fence agreeing that he would take it off before the installer came to re-install it.

I wasen't there when the installer came back, but my buddies wife tells me that she over herad him tell the installer "If I wanted a shitty installation, I woulda done it myself." The new installer re-cables the thing (with RG6), and even installed a grounding block where the cable enters the house.

Gotta love those Factory Trained and Certified installers.

Qualified and Certified my ASS, that happens a lot of many field and lines of business, I think a lot of people scan and print their own diplomas etc. They are as qualified as my ASS and that is not saying much.......lol GTG.
