7100 with keyboard help please
i have a 7100 that i can buy for 200.00 with key board,i'm wondering if this is a good deal.also it was suppose to be out of the stream since oct of 2003.i hope it is at reva20,
also does ird need to have a tsop and eprom lock,i understand that they have never been hit however they seem to be a buggy ird. any opinions would be appreicated. also they have no jtag so as long as i can get boxkeys off card i do not need a sombraro.please confirm this i've done all types of ird up to 301's thanks in advance |

Yes if the cam is open so you can get the boxkeys. I don't believe the 7100 ever came with a rom10. Mine had a rom 3 from the factory. Which could be a good thing if it has a rom10. It means the seller was likely testing it already. Nice too if it's already had a harddrive upgrade. The orginal hard drive would only record 4 hours at best. So plan on spending a extra 100 or so if it hasen't been upgraded. Quote:
No lock necessary. At least I have never needed one in 5 years on mine. I have tried every thing that has been hit in it from rom10 to rom2 scripts and cards and it's never affected the receiver more than blacking out the channels. They are a lot less buggy now with the newest firmware upgrades. Mine has worked without a hitch for the last 9 months. Before that it truely was buggy. So buggy in fact that I never knew if it would work from day to day. The latest update a few days ago claims more record time. Must work had about 49% of the drive left before the upgrade. Now it claims 58% left. Quote:

I find that hard to believe. Why would a customer give up the free guide and have to pay 5 or 6 bucks a month for the newer PVR's as a service fee for the guide info. I think a lot of sub 7100/7200 people will scream to high heaven if charlie pulled that sort of deal.
When orginally sold the 7100/7200 units were promised a free two week guide info without a monthly fee like TIVO or PVR's. As long as they own it and subscribe. Especially if their units are still working. t160hq |
