Mysterious P4 Hack Discussion, Part III

We'll run this a bit longer, in the event of any lingering interest.

This particular thread, in Part 1 format, started over a month and 200 posts ago, Surfnazi.

There is no P4 hack, of course...but since members continue to enjoy discussing it anyway, we let 'em have at it. We also have a bullshit section for those who think they've spotted the holy grail of DTV.

Don't worry, you ain't missed a thing. Good to see a fellow Texan join in...

I will not reply to any questions or take anying flaming ,but P4 is hacked but not to the average hacker, there is a high frequency diode that is being bypassed on the card chip and then the card can be treated like a P3 FOR PROGRAMING PURPOSES,YOU NEED A HIGH powered microscope and alot of know how.
this comes from a good source, and they are being sold in canada for 1500 dollars.take it for what its worth!

My answer to the question is "It is true when I have seen it." This started a long time ago with battery cards. I did not think it was true until I saw it. So right now I ain't seen it so I do not believe it. Hundreds of people may say they have seen it but I have not.

you also need waders and a breathing tube! because i don't know anyone in the business who can be that accurate with an electrical bypass on micro technology.
And I work in the electronics field! ....... Just WHAT is a "high frequency diode" commonly known as? because i have never seen one listed in any component catalogue that i have had to read! But thanks for the info.

I haven't posted before, and infact i just registered to reply to this message. I have been an avid reader of this forum and hobbiest for about a year now, but i hate to see people flame others because they themselves find a statement unbelieveable.

If you do a simple yahoo search (http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22...t&cop=mss&tab=) you will see that high frequency diodes do exist, so i think that maybe these people should do a little research before flaming others. Also most of these people haven't had anything productive to say EVER, they are just sitting back while others do the work so they can get their free TV.

Nuff Said.

Keep up the good work........that goes out to the REAL workers of this hobby.

I hate to add fuel to a flame war but 'high frequency diode' is a very generic name for an extremely generic part. It is so popular that the name itself means absolutely nothing. Any P-N junction can be considered a diode. In radio-speak, "HF" or "High frequency" is anything up to 30mhz which by todays standard is extremely low in frequency and is to be considered a low precision component.

I have to go with the previous poster's claim that a 'high frequency diode' describes not much of anything, especially in digital electronics.

Yes I agree that you found some google links with those words in them but do you understand what they mean?

PS: I heard that the P4 hack will be out in 2 weeks :-)

Aldo, Okay I'll bite. Where did you purchase this receiver. I tried the link included in your note but I'm at work and I'm hitting a firewall. Is that the full website address? I really want to stick with DTV if possible rather than incurring the time, effort, and cost of switching to Charlie. Not seeing much here about silverbullet4u or other FTA receivers..

Aldo, I was able to view the website. So this receiver claims to get all DTV channels including PPV and HBO without a card. I hope it works when you get it. I noticed they only accept payment via "BECASH" whatever that is. I'd feel more comfortable paying with PAYPAL. Again, please keep us posted when you receive the unit. Thanks for "blazing the trail". If it works I'm sure a lot of us will consider it. I'd love to hear what Mili thinks about this product? Hope to hear back from you soon Aldo on this item.

Well if you are going to spend the $ and take the risk, thats great. You may be the neil armstrong of the DTV world. But seriously, if you are going to purchase and it works as told then we will all jump the bandwagon evetually i'm sure.

However a couple things that worry me about planetscript dot net, is that they are using a PayPal like feature that i'm sure most of us have never heard of. Also their email address is a yahoo account (Based in the UK never the less), the statments on the website about how wonderful the product is could have been placed by the person that created the page. It just seems to look a little shady if you ask me...........

The equipment kinda looks like a DVD player or even a digital cable box don't you think????

Just my 2cents, don't want to see you get burned.

GOOD LUCK !!!

Muppetmandan, It's nice to see someone here (Aldo) has the kohones to give it a try then share the results. I agree with your comments. My concerns (besides the obvious of whether it will work) are the payment method (BECASH) with no paypal option and no mention of support or software in case updates are required at a later date. Having said that, I'm excited about the possibility of a silverbullet/blackbird type of receiver for Dave instead of Charlie. I hope Mili sheds some light on this product. I'm in DTV withdrawal. Vision blurred. Getting weaker.. :uhh:

those these few features in particular make me wonder
*Supports ‘over air’ download of new software*
*CONDITIONAL ACCESS NDS CA with smart card reader*
*Modem telephone line*
I mean if NO CARDS TO DEAL WITH, NO SITES TO KEEP CHECKING FOR UPDATES. JUST WATCH YOUR TV. then why the cardreader buil in. plus woh ever wrote the page didn't replace your page title here with a title.

Question

Tazspin, All good points. I wondered about the need for those features as well - especially the card reader. One individual using this board (Aldo) has ordered this product so I am anxiously awaiting his update when he gets it. If we do not receive an update, I'll be even more suspicious... If blackbird/silverbullet enforcer works with Charlie, it's not inconceivable to think a receiver COULD work with Dave but I'm not convinced just yet. Plus I'm not crazy about sending $225 US to the UK through a pay plan (BECASH) I have never heard of. Even though the testimonials include e-mail addresses, they could be made-up as well. There's nothing stopping someone from setting up several e-mail addresses.
