That letter

My friend got that letter from DTV about a week ago, is there anyone who got the letter and did nothing about it and never heard from them again? I have been reading some oh the post and it seems that you are better off paying them with an attorney. If not you end up in court with legal fees and you could lose. I told him not to go that route, but he did. I thing it was "satans playground/house? I don't know, he is my man and I'm just trying to find out some info for him. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Glad I bought from Mili!

Bought something ??
End user , that would be you not them ..

Guarantied it is pure Bullshit , a hoax from a friend or foe !
DTV will only send out a registered letter from their lawyer and they will have receipts for what ever you bought or they have no case ...
In fact it would state exactly what you bought and from where ...
I think somebody is playing a game with you ...

mili busted ?? I don't think so !
This forum wouldn't be here if he was , I don't think the Bahamian government really gives a shit about DTV ...
So the man took a holiday , big deal ...
Someone is playing a joke on you ..
Where did the envelope come from ?? Which city ??

It even has a case number which i better not give out. This is a 2 page letter with all the headings and federal and state laws. I thought if the day came it would be a registerd letter also. Anyone know of these or anything else?

If it didn't arrive registered, then they can't prove you ever received it.

I seriously doubt Mili had anything or knows anything in regards to your letter. Who have you ordered from besides Mili? Could an ex-girlfriend or someone of narced you off?

So what does it mean? There's no way in hell a regular mailed letter can be used in an American court. Looks like old news to me. Almost seems like somebody just printed that off and mailed it themselves.

Sure sounds like fishing expedition. If they want to file suit, they have to explictly list their purported evidence. Now that's the letter I'm waiting to see. Guess I'll find out in the next two weeks or so... Not holding breath.
Peace

I got that letter about 4 months ago. They claimed they had evidence I purchased illegal satellite reception equipment and said if I gave up all my access cards, my programming device, and gave them a written statement promising to never hack their shit again that they would settle out of court with me if I payed them a nominal fee. I never responded and 15 days later I got a 15 page letter saying that they will give give me one more chance to settle. The letter also contained a draft complaint to the US supreme court saying that they have proof that I illegally intercepted they're signal. I still didnt respond to they're bullshit letter. Its been 3 months since then and I havent heard anything. But Ill keep my fingers crossed. So my advice to you is dont respond. Theyll probobly try to get you to admit to something. If they had any real evidence against you then you would get a summons to court. And if by chance they did summons you go to court and fight it. Unless you admit to stealing theyre signal or they saw you hack theyre cards through an open window they cant prove shit.

Sit tight , if it doesn't come by REGISTERED mail just leave it be ..
I found it odd to be on the net and looks more like a trap to me than actual fact !
Don't call them don't admit to anything , if they have evidence on you they also have to prove it ...

Cool

im reading this post and the person who got the letter said the only thing he bougth was from milli?

WHAT MILLI HAS THE HACK! two weeks ago you recived WHAT FROM FLORIDA!

MAYBE YOU FORGOT ABOUT THAT BOOTLOADER you bought way back when!

now im kind of new to this site but for the time ive been reading here a few months there is nothing for dave hardly. this is a dish network type forum!

in order to get a letter from dave you would have to have used a credit card and bought somthing or somone used you credit card to buy somthing that when dave raided a site or place that sells stuff for dave they busted the site or dealer and mr fbi turns over the name on there client list! so AGAIN WHAT DID YOU BUY FROM MILLI THAT MAKES YOU THINK IT WAS HIM?

DTV does not send out tickets. DTV sends out threatening letters. Tickets are sent by courts and law enforcement agencys.
There is a very large difference between a threatening letter from a privite company in El Segundo Calif and a ticket from the local police.
DTV wants you to think that they are the same.

Yes- you do ignore it because it's not legit. If the police want to talk to you about something they contact you in person. They don't even send you a letter via regular mail letting you know they want to see you. If this person has not previously made a legally binding agreement to settle, then the letter is extortion, and should be ignored. The letter itself is illegal, slanderous and an attempt to collect fees that are not owed if there is no prior agreement to settle. I have to assume this person has not previously agreed to settle because no mention of that was made...I got your back 4x4.
On the other hand, Satans Playhouse did get busted and there records were compromised. Supposedly the Playhouse crew went to work for Dave the last year or so of the HU card. Never talk to DTV directly. ALWAYS use an attorney if you are forced to deal with these crooks. There are links here to lawyers that specialize in this kind of thing.

This is a DTV and Echostar forum, it's just that there is nothing available for discussion on the DTV side of things at this time....at least nothing worth mentioning.

Jt, get off of 4x4's DICK! I'm going to make this quick, dishnet will sue your ass in civil court! you can bring a civil case on anyone. and stop giving legal advice about shit that you know nothing about! i started a simple thread asking if anyone had gotten this letter and what they did. i have read enough post and links to actual court documents showing that it is and was a civil case brought against dtv "hackers". in a civil case you roll the dice, and if you lose you get hit with unrealistic jugement and court fees (dtv's) "yeah, just ingnor the letter". I don't want any trouble from the mods. and let's leave it at that. end the thread.

You started out talking about Dave, and now your talking about Charlie. What gives with that? If you knew everything about this issue why did you post the question in the first place? Even a civil case has to go through the courts and ALL communication must be documented every step of the way. Non registered mail may as well never been sent. DTV is counting on people not having the balls to stand up to them. It seems strange to me that my involvement in this hobby has not led to me receiving the letter, and I'm clearly more involved in this hobby than you or your friend. It must be because I don't know how to deal with these issues....

and I happen to like 4x4's dick. He treats me nice so I treat him nice.

Jt & 16 both have over 2000 posts. If you do not want advice, do not ask. Do not argue with the advice you get.
Just say thanks and move on.

listen and you will learn.
do not answer the letters they mean nothing , execpt to start a time line.
most peeps that don't respond to the letters, nothing happens!
if you receive a summons or a certified letter(don't accept) than you need to worry talk to a lawyer.
my buddy received his letter 9mo's ago nothing yet.
they have 1 year to serve you. (in Calif.) some states it is 2 years .
they seem to be going after the peeps that respond it keeps them busy.
no need to make the effort to find the peeps that don't respond (yet)
peeps=people.
so calm down and wait.

SRad750, here's the advice you're seeking:
There are attorneys available in every state that have dealt with these DTV letters. Names, addresses and phone numbers for them are accessible, some right here on this site. Your friend needs to contact one of these without fail, immediately. I wouldn't ignore the DTV letter...however, do NOT, DO NOT, contact DTV prior to consulting a lawyer. Again, choose one with extensive experience dealing with this issue.

The letter to our member ARMS is most certainly a hoax of some kind, unless, as was brought up, something was purchased in the past that he's forgotten about. There's no possible way that DTV would be sending him one of these letters two weeks after he bought the product.

First, no one's buying DTV hacking hardware now, anyway...second, it's not possible for Mili's records to be compromised. They are kept offshore in Nassau, Bahamas and are completely inaccessible. Even if ARMS purchased something from a US site two weeks ago, the wheels don't turn that fast.

ARMS should do exactly as was suggested...ignore the damn thing, do NOT contact DTV...but DO consult one of the aforementioned attorneys. If another one arrives, it will come in the form of a warning to settle, so he still has plenty of time.
I can guarantee this...whatever it is, it is NOT a result of a purchase from Mili two weeks ago...unless one of his buddies is pulling a prank, in which case said buddy needs a big-time ass whipping.

I C & P the text into Word and then changed the name and such to fit my friend. He is getting the letter in the mail, lol. i used my phone number as the account number so he will not sweat it to long. I do not want him calling a lawer, lol. Would not suggest this unless the person has a good sence of humor.
